Some days I wonder if I made the right decision!! I feel like I'm sick all the time! I was sleeved 9 weeks ago and recently am throwing up all the time! I am too scared to move beyond soft food and feel like its impossible to get in all the nutrition I need in a day... I am now lactose intolerant and many other food gives me "tummy troubles" I am down 54 pounds which makes me so happy but some days I wonder if this will be what life is like forever!

Nope it won't be like this forever.....What your going through is quite common actually. I know it is intimidating to have to move out of your comfort zone and start to eat solids...You will be very glad you did once you are in the grove...

I had to learn to eat all over again when I was in the hospital...I did not eat for 51/2 months....They had to reteach me how to swallow...Hard to believe eh....But really glad they did..I explore new foods all the time now and eat things I have never eaten in my life before....I am having a lot of fun trying new things and now I spend some time watching food porn to get ideas how I can change up my food...

It is not another addiction for me..It is that I paid a huge price for this surgery and have gone through a lot over the last 11 months....I am totally making it interesting and yes even fun for me.....

Just start out with a very small portion and put your fork down after each bite.....Listen to your sleeve it will tell you when you have had enough of the good stuff....I don't trust it with slider foods but that is a whole other issue for many of us on the sleeve....

Long winded I know....hope it helps a little :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
