Did you notice how many people view this board? Its amazing to me and from what I can figure, about 8 to ten percent actually post. That is incredible and this info is all free to us. I know that there are many that get support just by lurking (I say that affectionatley!) so when a few post about thier problems with PBing, its truly a small percent. And I think that if the truth be told, PBing and sliming and all that rot are not always controllable, I for one do great with one food and a week later, have a problem with it without ever knowing why. I dont think I am an anomily, especially since I attend a local support group and this seems to be the norm. The things that get posted on other boards are just that, another post. Dont let it get to you, if you get support here, then enjoy! I sure do!:clap2:

I agree.

I can eat something one day and eat only half as much of that same food at another time and get jammed up until I PB and spit it up.

There is plenty of good free advice here at LBT.

I think it's helpful to remember that everyone goes through many different phases on their banding journey. Some people who find themselves saying "I never PB, I'm the perfect bandster, I follow the rules all the time and have lost 300 lbs in a year" may sing a different tune when their weight loss stops well short of their goal. Things change, people change, behavior and the band's effects CHANGE over time. The rough Patches people post about are often temporary, but the nature of a message board can make it seem like they're permanently having a dysfunctional relationship with their bands.

Patience, time, persistence, support: these are the elements to a succesful bandster journey.

More complaints may also mean that people feel more comfortable to ask.

On Many sites, people are made uncomfortable for asking "stupid" questions.

At LBT, the only "stupid" question is the one not asked.

I am a member of OH but don't post there much, or even lurk - not since a certain clown, whose posts make me absolutely WANT to puke, started hanging out there. The same reason I left a Yahoo group she was on - just made my teeth ACHE. Maybe that's just me, though.

I may respond to that thread, however. I don't remember seeing any posters on LBT that said they suffered from Bulimia, post-band, or any who vomit voluntarily.

I PB sometimes, and most of the time, it's my own damn fault. I eat too much, or I eat something I know will not suit my band. Other times, who knows what the deal is? The other day, I PBed ice cream.

Gosh, I am SO thankful for this forum!! It has been a WEALTH of information to me and my DH. I didn't even know what a PB was until I found this forum...still don't know what "slime" is.

I think I will be much more successful with my band because of all you good people on LBT :myscared:

Just an FYI, by-pass people slime and barf too. I have several friends that are gbp patients and they have some of the same food issues that I have, rice, bread, Pasta and french fries. It's not just us banded folks with food and slime issues. ~Mandy

I tried to explain PB'ing to my surgeon and also told him I was having first bite syndrome. He thinks I'm a nut job. He said he's never heard of these things and doesn't understand why I'm having them. So obviously, others are afraid to mention these things. I can't imagine that I'm his only patient that has had anything like this happen.

I was just over at OH, and there is a thread basically bashing Lapbandtalk for "having too many people that PB and slime".

Oh, the sanctimonious bypassers!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
