TexasMiss 314 Posted October 17, 2013 Ensure? That's a first I've heard that. I'm sure it's probably got a lot of sugar and carbs? so that might be part of your problem. I do a Premier Protein shake..their pretty good considering. A hamburger? Not the best idea but I'm not judging...we ALL have our moments. Sounds like your not keeping track of what your eating? I use MyFitnessPal and it's a lifesaver! Watch out for little things...a pat of butter on your broccoli, a dab of Salad Dressing, coffee creamer...all those 40 calories here and 25 there really add up when your eating X calories a day. I would suggest sticking to lean Protein and fresh veggies...no carbs. I've logged everything I've ate and drank for the last 8 months. I compared what I ate (carbs, protein, etc) to my biggest weight loss months (I chart and graph everything... I'm a dork...I know) but it helped. It's hard to know what your doing wrong until you know what works and what you did right. Once you figure that out, stick to what works best for you 1 ItsMe2033 reacted to this
AngiD 95 Posted October 17, 2013 I think that Ensure has like 250 calories and 40 carbohydrates.

I fell in love with broccoli after my surgery but I eat it with a little low fat mozzarella cheese! I also have been drinking a lot of water! I'll try to put more attention to what I eat! I'm hearing a lot of premier Protein Shakes, r they really good? And I'm eating salad with cooked chicken or chicken by itself, is that okay to take? I'm sorry...I am very ignorant with nutrition things!

Justinh125 472 Posted October 17, 2013 It's been a year since my surgery and I only lost 50lbs! I have been eating very good and I'm scared! I don't want to go back to the weight I had and scared I'm making my stomach stretch and making it bigger! Right now I can eat a whole hamburger, a few weeks after my surgery I couldn't, I barely would eat a 1/4 and I would be very full! With time I feel I'm able to eat more and more! I don't know what to do! I'm trying to exercise as much as I can and eating somewhat good! I'm at this alone and don't have no one to talk too! Am I the only one going through this problem? What was your starting weight/size? Your size now? That would probably help understand what is going on if you're willing to share.
youthguy80 65 Posted October 17, 2013 Don't beat yourself up. 50lbs in a year isn't awful. That's 50 lbs you aren't carrying around any longer. Studies show even 5% of total weight loss makes a difference. You are trying to educate yourself now, and that's important. Most surgeons and nutritionists offer a booklet for education. If yours didn't, ask if they have something. This one explains basic nutrition very well: http://www.muhealth.org/documents/bariatric/bariatric%20booklet%20vsg.pdf Also, I've found support groups to be very helpful. It's a wonderful resource. Many hospitals offer them for free, regardless of where you had your procedure. Keep educating yourself and keep fighting! 1 jdosal4 reacted to this

Olarance75 215 Posted October 17, 2013 Also try to keep your carbs under 40 grams per day. From what I have read 20 is the number and the weight falls off pretty good. Did you have surgery in the States? If so I would contact my surgeon and speak to the nut . 1 jdosal4 reacted to this
