Seeking advice - protein powders making me nauseous

Recommended Posts

I am doing my pre-op diet. Problem is the Protein powders are making me nauseous. I have been experimenting with a couple different ones. They all seem so sweet and that is what is making me sick. Does anyone else have this issue? How did you manage it? Thanks!

Try try Body By Vi - the shake flavor is "sweet cream" but its not very sweet at all. Very good tasting - I don't like them sweet either. You buy it online from a "promoter" - money back guarantee - I could give you my log-on and you'd order from my space. I mix mine with unsweet almond milk or skim milk and maybe some fruit for a "carb" intake. VERY VERY low in sugar, high in Fiber, HIGH in Protein and if you drink 2 shakes per day you're receiving your daily dose of Vitamins. I've had so many kinds of Protein Shakes I can't even tell you and these are amazing. Very filling - but most important is if you purchase a 2 bag monthly supply for $99.00 - 2 meals per day - and you try it and hate it, ship it back and you get a full refund. 802-999-1008 or order at http://bkhuffman.bodybyvi.com/

you might want to try Isopure apple/melon (get the pre-mixed). tastes kind of like granny smith apple juice and is clear. You can get bottle to try at GNC and then order on line (look for cheapest price, there is usually a case deal someplace) if it suits you. Hang in there!

You could try some of the more tart Syntrax Nectar flavors like Roadside Lemonade, fuzzy navel, pink grapefruit, or lemon tea. You can get sample packs from lots of places online. You mix them with Water instead of milk so that also makes them even less sweet than flavors like chocolate or vanilla.< /p>

The Unjury chicken Soup Protein broth is good and of course not sweet! I also did things like stirring unflavored Protein Powder into beef broth (with some steak seasoning), cottage cheese, and yogurt. Good luck!

I'm with you, the sweet mixes make me want to retch (sp?), plus artificial sweeteners induce an insulin response just like sugar and the carb thing is a big problem for me. I've been trying to come to terms with this, because the pre and post op diets are heavy in artificial stuff. So I have been using unflavored Protein powder and tossing it into whatever. Kefir, some frozen berries and pp for a smoothie, adding it to Soup, etc. eggs are a good additon, too.

The Premier Protein shakes, chocolate in particular taste pretty good, hey come in 2 sizes, 12oz. and 6 I think is the smaller, but both have 30g protein, just open and drink. Sams carries the small in a 12 pack for about $19

I mix my Protein mix in skim milk and add 1/2cup plain yoghurt. Helps to smooth out the sweet taste. Good luck with your search, protein mix is such a staple for us. I also select a protein mix that is very low in sugar and carbs.

I appreciate everyone's input. Because I am going through a pretty strict pre-op phase I can't do much of what has been suggested but I will keep it in mind for post op when things ease up a bit. In the meantime I got some crystal lite flavor mixes. I am going to add them to my vanilla powder to see if that helps.

Can anyone please post several of the online web links that give samples out. I would like to get a bunch to try. Thank you :-)

I just tried adding unflavored protein to beef broth and it got all clumpy! It was wicked gross!!! What's the secret?! I haven't been able to find ANY uses for this unflavored protein, everything I make comes out nasty and doesn't mix well...
