Progress at 7 weeks with pics--and NSV (whoop whoop)

Recommended Posts

I'm seven weeks post op and I have a looong way to go, but your pictures are an inspiration to me. i took some pictures this weekend and compared them to what I looked like only few weeks before my surgery (8/19/13). Can't believe the difference already and can't wait to see what I look like by new year's.

Also flew this weekend and it was the first time in YEARS that I fit in the seat without making the armrest pop up or having to practically jam myself against the window side so that I wouldn't "ooze" over to the adjoining seat! Flying has been a huge source of anxiety for me-so grateful for my sleeve!

Your working it girl.....In 2 weeks I too will be trying an airplane seat...I am so stoked to seat in one because the last time I flew was 3 years ago and I was miserable and so was the crew to me....

I love being invisible now....Hope there too, no one will notice me this time....

Thanks for the encouragement guys!!!!

Sometimes it's hard to "see" our progress, but the airplane was irrefutable proof that its working. This was my first flight without my ex-boyfriend, who was average sized. He would always get the seat next to me and raise the armrest so I wouldn't be embarrassed or encroach upon my neighbor. I've heard stories of people being asked to buy a second seat and I've been petrified that it would one day happen to me. I had tears in my eyes when i realized I could sit down comfortably :-)

Aw, you are so beautiful young lady. Just imagine when we get to our ultimate goals. My weight loss is slow but overall, I feel better. I am trying to get my confidence/self-esteem back. It's amazing how many fears and unnecessary thoughts of humiliation pass our minds due to our weight. I wish you the best on your journey. Have an awesome day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
