Ablation, sleeve, now periods? What gives?

Recommended Posts

I had the NovaSure procedure done in May of 2012. After the ablation I had immediate relief from painful periods and haven't had a period since then.

I was sleeved July 2013 and in the last month have started having slight bleeding and cramping. Basically, I'm getting my period again.

Anyone have a similar experience or have any idea why this is happening?

I had nova sure oct 2010. Had a period the next month...following month I had two periods. I was a nova sure failure for sure. Had a hysterectomy in May of 2012 after nearly non stop periods again.

It is possible to still get periods after nova sure. Go in and talk to your obgyn.

I had Nova in April 2012. No periods after that until one small period after I was sleeved. Since then, back to nothing/spotting.

gomekast is correct when she says that you can still get your periods after as many women do. Your ob/gyn will likely have some good information for you.

Thanks for your responses. I knew I could get periods after the NovaSure procedure but thought it was strange that I didn't for over a year and then started to only after I was sleeved.

Mirabelle, I also had the same problem, I was almost two years out from my ablation and ended up having to have a hysterectomy due to adenomyosis, which was made worse by the ablation. Best to get it checked with the obgyn :)

good luck

It is probably from the release of estrogen stored in fat cells as they are breaking down and shipping out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
