I'm a stomach sleeper and am very concerned about sleeping post-op. Any suggestions or ideas from other stomach sleepers? How long before you could sleep on your stomach ?

I actually slept in a recliner for about 4 nights after I got home. I wasn't able to sleep on my stomach until about two weeks out.

It took me 4 days before I could lie down on my stomach. I had to carefully get into that position or it was uncomfortable. That lasted about two weeks.

When I came home from the hospital I slept in my bed with a couple of pillows to prop me up. Within the week I was sleeping on my side with a pillow under my stomach area to support it. By the next week I was on my stomach........and it was amazing! :)

I slept on my stomach a few days out. My problem was having a drain in that got in my way. My doc said stomach sleeping was fine if it wasn't uncomfortable.

I had a lot if scar tissue from my band removal and my tummy was very swollen post op. I couldn't even lay on my side for 4 days. But by week 2 I can sleep on my tummy again. It just depends on your individual comfort level I will say that I did pop a stitch in my abdomen at day 8 flipping over (trying to move my pillow) so be careful!

I slept in a recliner for four nights, then I moved into the bed and I learned to sleep on my back and still do.

I too sleep on my back now. Though i CRAVE to flip over and sleep on my stomach. Its only been 7 days since my surgery. Im too scared of what sleeping on my stomach would do to my wounds. So 1 week and no stomach sleeping as of yet.

I am a stomach sleeper and Saturday night when I woke up I was on my stomach and I am one week out as of Monday. I was sore or in pain when I woke up. I hate sleeping on my back so the following night I put pillows on my sides and woke up laying on top of them.

I too crave to lay on my stomach but wouldn't do it at this point so I won't put too much pressure on my incision sites. I just build a little fortress on my left side and tilt onto them as much as I can. It's nice. I do the same on the couch.

Im 3 weeks today. Slept on my stomach last night. It felt awesome. I think everyone heals differently. It could be a few days for some folk or a couple of months for others.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
