I had my sleeve done Monday at 2pm. I can not tolerate any liquid because of that they have keep me another night. Not thrilled about that since I am self paying. Has anyone has this extreme nausea? What day does it stop ?

Oh I am SO sorry! I had post op nausea too :( it sucks.

I can't tell you when yours will stop, because everyone is different. If they think you should stay in the hospital, you should stay. Numero uno priority right now is for you to stay hydrated. Dehydration is serious business.

Tiny, TINY sips of Water are the way to go, and breathe. Just enough to wet your mouth. Tiny sips several minutes later, and breathe. Rest, and repeat. It WILL get easier over time. Also, they should have some anti-nausea medicine, and I've heard smelling an alcohol swab can help.

Mine lasted no longer than a week, and while at the time I was miserable --- it's a distant memory now.

Hope you feel better soon!!

I had severe post-op nausea too. I was dry heaving as I was waking up from the surgery and they kept having to give me nausea meds. I think it's a pretty common reaction to anesthesia.

I had mine done on the 9 th, it was awful I threw up for over 24 hours, I thought I was going to die and it would never end, but it did, come off all your pain meds if you can stand to, that's what stopped mine

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
