Hey - I am from Seattle area also. The nut was perfectly fine with us drinking coffee before and after surgery, with the exception of 1 day before surgery. That being said, you may find Decaf easier on your stomach for the first month post op. I went back on caps, lattes and drip about 6 week post op. Starbucks of course. I drank coffee pretty consistently day to day until about month 7 when I cut way back and started to eat more paleo style to support better work outs. Today, at about 15 months, I drink coffee about once or twice a week. Just does not appeal to me much any longer. Good luck on your surgery.

I did not drink coffee but was big diet coke fan. Had to give it up which was hard. I drink it up until day before surgery. Now I work overnight so I will never give up caffeine I found a Water that has caffeine in it. It help at work and I get the water I need. I do drink regular water too I do 2 bottles a day of the caffeine.

coffee is a diuretic. It makes most people go to the restroom. Sleevers already have difficulty getting their liquids in the first bit after surgery, so the Dr doesn't want anything else that can aid dehydration. This is one reason coffee is a no-no right after the sleeve.

Lol. You're welcome. I went over and over so many things with my Dr and Nut that it's running out my ears.

Thanks for the encouragement! It's a Seattle culture and it'll so hard to stay away from....I'll be gentle on my body of course and find what works. So 15months out huh? How have your results been?

Yep just talked to my NUT Thursday and told her I'd been drinking a cup of coffee a day for a week and she was fine with it. Said she'd never mess with a persons coffee. YES!! :)

Before my surgery I absolutely hated coffee! Post op at 4 months I find myself drinking and enjoying coffee! Talk about a change of taste!! I drink 1 cup 1/2 Decaf with my Premiere Protein Shake and sugar free caramel machiatto and it is delicious!! Never ever thought I would drink coffee but it has replaced soda, crystal light drinks etc. I just can't stand the fruit flavored stuff anymore.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
