Just wanting to introduce myself, I had my op almost 2 years ago and have lost approximately 15 -18 kg's so far. I was a little slack for almost a year and never went back to my doctor for regular checks which I don't recommend you do. Consequently I never lost much weight during that time. I'm now back on track and started the weight loss again.

Looking forward to being involved with this support group and hope I can give support in return.

PS: I love my band and have no regrets about the operation.

Jenny

Hi Gigi and jackal1209

Thank you for your prompt reply's. It's exciting to meet people in the same boat as me. I have been unable to go to the support groups offered by my doctor so having access to this support is going to be great.

I live in Brisbane Australia but originally from NZ. I have always been overweight really but stacked it on when I gave up smoking. My heaviest was about 94kg which is not good when I am only 157 cm (5 ft 2) tall. I am now at 77 and would like to get to 65. I am very slow at losing weight.

I have recently had an adjustment but am finding it hard to keep much down at all this time. Can anyone advise me what types of meals you eat directly after you have had an adjustment.

jackal1209 you weight loss is incredible. Fantastic!

I found that with every adjustment, there was about a week or two "retraining" mysely on eating correctly. Just chew everything to death, LOL. If it persists more than a week or two, then maybe you were "overfilled" an I would see your doc. Just remember too, an adjustment is just that, more restriction, and you should feel it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
