No Energy for Anything....Is this common?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am six days post-op. And I have no energy. None. I can hardly do anything even walking a few steps I am tired. I know that I am not getting my full amount of Protein in because I have stomach pains every time I drink an ounce of anything. It is even a project to take all my medications. I need to know if this is common. I have my first pre-op appointment tomorrow. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks :(

Sounds pretty normal. Makes sure you keep sip, sip, sipping your fluids to keep hydrated and do the best you can with the Protein. First couple of weeks are tough and you will feel tired - but it gets better, just hang in there :-))))

At one week post-op I went for the one week check-up, told MD that I was worried about Protein amounts - he stated not to worry about protein for first 3 weeks - just sip, sip, sip.

It took me about 5 week to finally feel I had my energy back, Each day was better than before, but I could sleep 10 hrs a day and the weekends forget. Love your body enough to let it rest and heal. It is working overtime to heal.. Work on getting your Protein in as well as your fluids and your Vitamins. It helps, but it is just you healing.

I'm glad to know this is normal. I was sleeved 10/1, and I've done almost nothing but sleep and try to get my fluids/protein in. I've tried to get out and walk a few times when I can as well -- but even last week, taking bites of yogurt exhausted me completely. It was so annoying, because I felt like I was failing somehow.

I'm hoping that my energy levels start going up more soon, the past two days have been not too terrible, but still more exhaustion than I would like!

I'm 2 weeks and I can still sleep all day! I literally sleep 8 hours, wake up, go back to sleep an hour later, sleep for 6 more hours, and so on. I could sleep all day! I'm so tired! Also, keep in mind, if you are still on painkillers, they also encourage your being tired.

I have no energy and I'll be 3 weeks out tomorrow. I'm doing good to piddle around the house. Even taking a shower tires me out.

I am six days post op and have been feeling similar. I slept 10 hours last night and all day felt like I wanted a nap. I powered through, but didn't do much other that sit around today. I did go with my hubby to the grocery store, but that was the most walking I did. Need to focus on more walking tomorrow, hopefully the weather will be better. Been rainy and gloomy the last few days, doesn't help with energy levels.

Yeah, I was the same way for about 3 weeks after surgery. My days consisted of trips from the bed to the couch back to the bed.

I think you will find that once you get back onto solid foods, your energy will return.

Hang in there. It will get better.

I was sleeved on September 24th, and simple activities continue to deplete my energy.

Honestly, I am unable to sleep through the night. I usually sleep for two-to-three hours at a time, then two hours of being up, then fatigue and exhaustion set in again.

Walking!?! I have attempted to go outside and walk around a bit, in my neighborhood; however, there are times that I feel dizzy and faint after just two minutes. I am fearful of going far from home and falling out.

Before reading this thread I thought maybe I had become hypoglycemic or had developed a blood clot; but it does seem as if the low energy is a part of the long term healing process.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
