You know why I want to go to the state fair today? Even though it looks like rain?

It's because I want to log in some miles on my fitbit, and because I'm so dang antsy I can't sit still and it's driving my family crazy.

Used to be, I went for the funnel cakes and the tornado taters. Oh how life has changed!

Also because I can. Two years ago, I almost died due to a misdiagnosis, last year I was still getting enough strength back and I had awful knee pain. This year, I feel good about being able to walk around comfortably even though I did 7 miles on my bike this morning.

So I'm doing it while I can and I will enjoy the heck out of it, because I have no idea what next year will bring. I just feel so happy that I had to share :) thanks for reading.

Ways your new NSV this week? What made you happy?

Yesterday I went to the yearly Ham Festival with my two kids. They had so much food that I would have normally tried to eat, but I was so busy enjoying all the compliments about my more than 30 pound weight loss and telling everyone about my amazing surgery that I really wasn't tempted. My kids had funnel cakes, fried pickles and even tried deep fried Oreos while I sipped on Water. I was so good to be able to walk up and down the hills without needing even one sit down break.

Great job ladies! My surgery is tomorrow but I already had an NSV, I got my wedding rungs off so they won't have to be cut off! Thank you preop diet!

I went clothes shopping yesterday with my best friend and we realised we had never done that before in the last 30 years because I would never admit what size I was. I also hated the assistants eyeing me up and down to decide whether I fitted their clothes.

Anyhoo, was searching for a dress on the rail when the assistant came to help. Before I could shoo her away, she'd picked out a dress that she said was in my size - a US8. And it fitted!!!!! Who hoo....

My son is getting a funnel cake and I'm realizing how much of this far is about food food food. And all fried. Yuck. I will smell like a French fry by the time we get home.

That is a funnel cake. Why yes that is nutritionally bankrupt, fried dough and that is in fact powdered sugar in top and yes, Alex will be hyper for hours after. :)

Only the best thing ever! Potatoes cut thin and round and round in curlicues and then fried.

Another NSV for us was that we ended up with a bite of fried pumpkin pie and an ounce of tornado taters but what really tasted good to my husband and me?

Protein packed chili. Yes!!

Isn't it freeing to be at a festival and not be driven by the food? I really appreciated that.

Wow that is tiny. I was at a store the other day and looked at 10's. I can kind of visualize myself fitting into them SOME day. But I looked at the 8's and I can't imagine EVER fitting I to those.

Congratulations!!

NSV! On my smartphone, I took a picture with my new Royals shirt on. My husband saw it and asked me to send it to him. Then, without me knowing, he sent it to Walgreens to be printed and then taped it to the bathroom mirror with the word "hubba, hubba, ooh-la-la!" :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
