8 days post op how do I know if eating too much? ?

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve on Oct 4th. 1st 4 days were horrible with dry-heaving and a trip to the ER for dehydration. Now I am drinking and doing the soft diey of cream Soups, sf pudding, greek yogurt and trying to take in my Protein but I never get a full feeling so I am worried I am doing too much or maybe not enough, how much should I take in a day? Still feeling really weak.

its all uphill from here... but your new tummy is still quite numb... you WILL feel when you are full... I promise. Eating is different for everyone but you will feel better as you eat more.... I hated this phase because of feeling weak like you. I quickly progressed to Yogurt (I love it...never did before but it makes me feel good) scrambled eggs...yum, cheese, well chewed meat....like lunch meat.... always Protein first.... you'll hear that a thousand times.... rofl I think at 6 weeks I'm up to maybe a half cup per meal....something like that. 4x per day... about 900 cal

you food should be limited to 2-4oz. If you eat to much at one time you will start to feel uncomfortable. When i over eat i get what has been called the slimy. your mouth is extremely watery. you have a persistent cough/hacking feeling thay may be followed by vomiting. the only thing that brings me relief after overeating is vomiting. I have suffered for up yo 4hours waiting for my stomach to calm down. the only thing that works is vomiting.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
