My pet peeve...the entire PC crowd! I mean really, if you cannot laugh at life, too bad, go to another thread. Folks who get offended by something on TV or the radio, it's real easy...don't protest the station, CHANGE THE CHANNEL!

I was enjoying this thread, until it got far too serious. By the way, if the previous rant offended anyone...two bad! ; )

My favorites here in the South...

Y'all - singular

All y'all - plural

Is some of this thread funny ? Of course it is, but it's a WLS site not school. Let's remember a lot of us morbidly obese have felt invisible for most of our lives and some have had little education due to bullying at school and lack of attendance. This site gives us a safe place to voice our concerns and views. I know if people were continuously bitching about my spelling or grammar it would take away from my enthusiasm to ask for help from you guys.

I'm just being a voice for those that may have been offended by this thread.

Not trying to make anyone feel bad. It would be different if they were doing it on purpose' date=' but I honestly think they dont know the difference. And making someone feel bad about being uneducated is just plain rude. Sorry. My vent is over.[/quote']

I think you have a point and I should have thought of it before I said anything. Apologies.

This whole thread just made me laugh! Not everyone has English as their first language, I just thought some of these could be attributed to that. Also there is American, and then there is English. If you really want to hear some colloquialisms come to Australia!

Of course I was born and schooled in New Zealand. Spent my senior high school year in Gouverneur, upstate New York. Had four years in Ottawa, Canada in the 1990's. Now spend 10 - 12 weeks a year in England with my daughter and grandchildren. Consequently I am totally screwed up!

It's called "pop" and not "soda".

I disagree Amanda....that is not a matter of correct spelling and/or grammar. It is called soda here in the northern part of the US. It actually says Soda on the bottle. I tried to attach a pic but it won't let me, lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
