Soft foods

Oh ok, I guess your doctor decided to skip all the other stages you said you were on...

Good luck :)

I was on clear for so many day, full liquids for so many, then puréed, and now soft. Following my plan as instructed. I'm sorry but I guess everyone progresses differently.

Then my apologies... I was just going off of something you wrote a few days ago about your progression.

Good luck on your journey

I see there is a Fresco Style MexiMelt, but not sure exactly what that means, though I see the site says it is a 25% reduction in fat. If you are not ordering it Fresco Style, the nutrition information on these is not the greatest. 7 grams of saturated fat, 730 mg of sodium ... OY! And it is a soft tortilla, so the breads is basically nutritionally irrelevant while taking up so much valuable stomach real estate. Perhaps just try to eat the insides of a Fresco Style if you are in a pinch.

** Edit ***

To the OP, once you progress to solids and begin with the routine of eating lean Protein first, then you will get the expected restriction.

I order them without the salsa. I eat the remainder' date=' shell and all. It all goes down really easily. 220 calories and 14 grams of Protein. My doc told me to aim for 350 calories and 20 grams of Protein per meal. That is the closet thing I have found that I can get down.[/quote']

Just a question. Are those numbers correct? Cause that means only 23% of your calories are coming from protein? That seems incredibly low. Especially for someone recently sleeved.

Hey thank you for your replies. I thought the eggs were too much but I sat down and actually times myself as I was eating and the longer I take eating the more I take chewing the more I eat so I am able to eat two scramble eggs but I feel stuffed afterwards so I've settle for one and let's say I'm not satisfy than I'll have the whites from another. So I wanted to let u guys know also just as an experiment I went to buy a meximelt from Taco Bell I was able to eat only the chicken ( I asked for chicken instead of meat) and the Tomato inside of it I couldn't see myself eating the pita nor did it fit. I guess my sleeve is not too big after all and I think I'll stick to my turkey, Soups, eggs like I've been doing. I wouldn't want to "strech it". :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
