Courtney9712 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Well, I had my surgery last Wednesday, the 25th. I am back at work today, feeling a little tired, but glad to be back here and out of the house. I had a question about drinking liquids. How long after surgery can I start drinking and not "sipping" my Water? I am so thirsty, I feel like I never can get enough, cause I am just sipping. I want to drink it normal so bad, but I am scared that I will get sick. Please help!!
New Hope 37 Posted August 30, 2004 I've never had a problem with liquids. Just take it easy. Listen to your body. If it hurts or is uncomfortable, stop. Congratulations on getting your band!
nightingale2u 42 Posted August 30, 2004 I agree with Miss Marie... listen to your body when you take in fluids... I was able to drink normally almost from day one... I didn't guzzle down the Water or anything... just took normal drinks. SF popsicles also helped my thirst factor. Wishing you speedy recovery... hang in there... it'll get better everyday! kellymoos 4 Posted August 30, 2004 Just take it slow and listen to your body. I couldn't guzzle Water after my surgery, I just could take sips. But, each day gets better. By this time next week you won't even be able to tell you had surgery....Best of luck to you:D
tigk29 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I was banded two days before you and my new best friend right now is ice! I used to drink sooooo much Water at work and when I had to practice the sipping thing before surgery it drove me crazy and I was soooo thirsty. I still am, so I found out that sucking on ice chips helps immensely! Since I am also on the liquid diet for two weeks I trick my brain into think I at actually eating something because I can crunch on the ice.
