Really I'm not. Just wondering if anybody else's husband/wife does this. First off, let me say that my husband has been so supportive. However, whatever I'm allowed to eat he eats it too. Then when I go to the frig to get something, it is gone. We buy whatever he wants at the grocery and he eats that too. He has quit buying cartons of sodas because he is"cutting back" on cals too. However he will stop at the gas station and pay $1.79 per bottle (3 bottles at a time, which lasts 1 day). He refuses to buy himself sweets but then drinks my Protein Drinks and eats my Protein Bars, which are very expensive. I just don't get it.

Lol we've all been through it... All the new exciting food to our partners and children are just to tempting :D

I'm 11 months out and we still buy Protein Shakes because my husband drinks them now (As a pre Breakfast or after a work out) When you threaten them enough they eventually stop. I remember this thread from a couple of months ago.. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/90424-leave-my-food-alone/page__fromsearch__1

You may have to set some ground rules because that is not cool. I don't know where you are in your journey, but preop and postop, you will have special nutrition needs that must be exclusive to you. You do not want someone to ruin your efforts. Just my 2 cents.

It isn't my husband, but my son who has been doing this. He has decided Carnation Instant Breakfast is his favorite thing in the world. He has been eyeing my Syntrax, but I said NO! The funny thing is he was then lecturing me on nutrition because he now knows about it through his drinking the Carnation breakfasts.

My daughter was really bad about eating my pudding cups, I bought her regular ones and myself sugar-free cups. I ended up having to mark mine so that I was sure I would have something at meal times. I think on 2 or 3 occasions my husband had to run to the store for yogurt or cottage cheese for me while I was cooking their "real food" since they had eaten my "healing food" (my daughter's words) now that I can eat anything I want the only thing off limits is my chewable vitamins. They both take a Multivitamin, but my daughter thinks mine are like candy, if she only knew how bad they taste, or at least the aftertaste. :(

You should just put a note on your food that says, "I've randomly poisoned one of these, feel lucky punk!?" :-P

At work, my boss saved a piece of cake in the fridge by putting a note on it that read, "Kyle's cake, please do not eat. P.S. I've already licked it."

P.S. I'm not a jerk either, but sometimes Frankensleeve is kind of an ass.

I guess I'm lucky then, my husband wouldn't touch my "healthy stuff!", he eats his "junk food" and is content.

Why don't you buy enough for the family. My kids always wanted a shake when I told them no, now that they are asked if they want one they say no. You always want what you can't have.

I just buy enough for everyone. My son has lost 10 lbs drinking Protein Shakes for breakfast. I guess eating other people's food is just so much better.

I would say it's one or the other. It gets expensive to buy all those bars/drinks for the whole family with all the junk food on top of it. My husband doesn't touch my Protein bars/drinks except for my greek yogurts so I get some for him and some for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
