Kayleen1984 6 Posted October 11, 2013 Ok I'm taking my kids to Olive Garden tonight to Celebrate good grades. I'm 3 weeks post op and am doing soft foods, any suggestions on what I can get besides Soup? After 3 weeks of full liquid, I'm souped out!! Thanks
gamergirl 4,610 Posted October 11, 2013 I looked up their menu and it does a bit tricky. I'd suggest anything with shrimp, tilapia or salmon with no Pasta seems like the best bet. Someone said they have a small plates menu (http://www.olivegarden.com/promo_content/menus/greenhouse_lunch_121712.pdf) If yours has that, the chicken spiedini seems like the thing to get. It may not be as soft as you need though. honestly if it were me? I'd either do one of the fish things OR I'd ask them to get me some fresh mozzarella slices from the caprese salad, but no tomatoes. Those are nice and soft. enjoy!
Kayleen1984 6 Posted October 11, 2013 Thanks! I know I should avoid Pasta, but is it because of the carb thing or is it not safe for the sleeve? Just wondering about that part, I'm a huge pasta girl and I was thinking about whole wheat noodles??
No game 14,437 Posted October 11, 2013 Way to soon for pasta! It's really hard on the sleeve.. After you heal fully MAYBE you can have a bit but most sleevers avoid it because it sits heavy and the carbs... 1 lifer reacted to this

Just wondering about that part, I'm a huge Pasta girl and I was thinking about whole wheat noodles?? It's more than the carb thing. Many people report feeling horribly bloated afterwards and have the potential to make lots of people sick and that would ruin dinner. Also it's my understanding that things like pasta, bread, and rice swell in your stomach due to their carby goodness (carbs absorb water) and that swelling can push on your new staple line and cause a leak. So definitely do not have the pasta, it could be dangerous right now.

Kayleen1984 6 Posted October 11, 2013 What about stuffed mushrooms? There's breadcrumbs, but that shouldn't be similar to eating plain bread right?
Kayleen1984 6 Posted October 11, 2013 I'm trying to be prepared incase we don't have the smaller plate options..
gamergirl 4,610 Posted October 11, 2013 What about stuffed mushrooms? There's breadcrumbs, but that shouldn't be similar to eating plain bread right? that should be okay, you just wont get your Protein in. How about the herb grilled salmon or hte parmesan crusted tilapia and you bring most of it home? Or the sicilian scampi from the appetizers and ask them to hold the bread? They have mozzarrella on the flatbread so they should be able to give you a small serving of that anyway.

No game 14,437 Posted October 12, 2013 If at all if stick to a bit of fish it's moist and most likely will not give you problems.. Stuffed mushroom? I don't know what they have in them but again breading will be heavy and hard on the sleeve at three weeks! What stage are you on??? Can you have real food yet? lifer 39 Posted October 12, 2013 Three weeks out? Soup or fish. Be careful not to rush things. You'll be happier with yourself in the long run. Your stomach is still healing, go easy on it. Also, congrats to your kids for their good grades!!
