RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted October 11, 2013 I can't believe it...Yesterday I had popcorn for the second time and it acted like a slider food to me....I could have eaten it for hours.....Yes I suppose it has Fiber and low in calories....But dang.....It just did not fill me up!!! Anyone else find this to be a slider food?
Momonanomo 534 Posted October 11, 2013 SO crazy! I was just daydreaming about popcorn! I've stayed away from it since surgery because I have also heard it's a slider....so now having seen your post, I think the timing of it is undeniable.....the Universe is warning me not to indulge in popcorn at this time on my journey. Thank you! 2 RJ'S/beginning and gamergirl reacted to this

No game 14,437 Posted October 11, 2013 Popcorn! Major slider for me it's funny (not) to be able to just keep eating something handful after handful. So it's just a once In a great while thing for me 2 notmeanymore and RJ'S/beginning reacted to this
gamergirl 4,610 Posted October 11, 2013 In which case I will continue to enjoy it now because right now, at 10 weeks post op, it's still goes thunk quite hard. My husband and I split a 100 calorie bag, and I chew each kernel one at a time and at the end of it, I get so full! Oof. 2 Chelenka and RJ'S/beginning reacted to this
ReDbEaN 654 Posted October 12, 2013 I haven't tried it yet...BUT, I do get kinda tired of not being able to eat more than 2-3 oz of anything!!! Maybe occasionally I would eat it...not now, but later:)

RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted October 17, 2013 Hi new to the sleeve can you explain slider food thanks I hate to do this...I did not know what they were until this forum informed me...they are foods any foods that you can eat a lot of after a while....Goes down smooth and does not give you any pain or reminder that you are full...A lot of people find ice cream, junk food, chips and popcorn easy to eat without any problems... Mine are sweets and now popcorn.....so I limit both so far....

nsquared 232 Posted October 17, 2013 popcorn is a huge slider for m. I've only eaten it twice post-op because it is too easy to easy too much of it.
jdwstmn 7 Posted October 30, 2013 I thought popcorn was off limits? Something about the kernel not breaking down. Every doctors guidelines are so different.
TJL 222 Posted October 30, 2013 popcorn has always been a favorite of mine, but I could eat the whole bag if I wasn't careful, it doesn't bother me at all, so instead I just snitch a handful when my hubby makes some. He will let me have a handful but that's all so it works for me as portion control.(oh, and I won't make it for myself, I know better!)
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted October 30, 2013 popcorn is a huge slider for me.. fortunately, my favorite way to enjoy popcorn is with a grannysmith apple (that I kind of roll around in the salty buttery bowl of popcorn between bites.. omg, yum).. and since the apple fills me up, I don't eat too much popcorn. As long as I PORTION out the appropriate amount, I don't worry about food being a slider or not anyway.. I mean.. I don't eat popcorn, ice cream or chocolate to fill me up anyway.. I eat it for a treat and if it's something I CAN'T exercise moderation with *cough* Peanut Butter cups... then I just try to avoid it altogether. If it's something that is a nice treat, that I can stick with the appropriate portion size and be happy even though I'm not "filled up" then I allow myself to enjoy it. piercedqt78 658 Posted October 30, 2013 We are a HIGE movie family. And we always get popcorn and a drink at the theater. Now I ask for a child's popcorn cup to go with my family's large popcorn. And that is all I have. I also portion mine out before all the butter gets added. I do salt mine, but skip the butter/oil chemical that they have out at the theater. Also when my family wants popcorn at home, we use the glass bowl, with kernnels in the microwave, with a glass plate on top, so no oil, fat or chemicals there either. My daughter will put some melted real butter on it after I get my small bowl out. I have discovered that I really like the Mexican seasoning that has chili and lime flavor, it is in the fruit section at the store, I also really like it on melons, and it's even good on chicken. But I figure the Fiber and low cal snack is just as good as any other choice I could make for a treat. My doctor says that I don't need to freak out over every calorie that I injest. I only eat when hungry, and make sensible choices, I'm down 65 pounds since May. And I'm only 5-10 pounds from goal. Since I had my lapband (I had a prolapsed stomach so was revised) I have lost 103 pounds. So what I am doing works for me. I did this surgery to be healthy, and lose weight, not to deny myself everything I enjoy for the rest of my life.
