HelenC 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I used one Dulcolax, and someone suggested Gerber Apple Prune juice (yes, the baby juice).
maudeispam 2 Posted March 2, 2007 Ground flax seed helps mixed with applesauce or yogurt. Make sure you drink plenty of Water with this method or it will bind you worse. Milk oh Magnesium works for me. Someone else suggested a glycerin suppository too. Best of luck.
*susan* 1,709 Posted March 3, 2007 Wow, this has been my story since getting banded almost a year ago as well. I am constantly plagued by Constipation and soooo tired of it. The only thing that has worked for me is good ol' mik of magnesia too. In fact, it has become a regular part of my weekend ritual. I take it on Saturday night before going to bed and things are "moving" :rolleyes by the next morning.

conniesueb 1 Posted March 3, 2007 My doctor gave me a prescription for a powder called Glycolax. You add a spoonful to a glass of Water each day and drink it--it doesn't have a flavor, and dissolves completely in whatever you add it to, and I have been completely regular since I started using it. I was really having problems before I started using it, but I love it. It doesn't make you too loose, either--just nice and regular. You really should ask your doctor about it--it works wonders! shues138 35 Posted March 3, 2007 Try some really well-cooked spinach. That seems to help too. I used to use sauerkraut, but that's tough to digest so I wouldn't suggest that now. After work tonight I'm going to the grocery store and getting some canned spinach because I need the help. LOL.
vonnie150 0 Posted March 3, 2007 My banding was 2 1/2 yrs ago. About 2 yrs ago i started suffering with Constipation. I have tried everything. I have been taking a heaping spoon of Fiber sure in my coffee every morning & it has worked wonders. I highly recommend it.:clap2:
White06 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I take Miralax, which is by prescription. I think its the same as the one above....maybe. Do all banders have a problem with this? Ive had this problem all my life but it seems to have gotten worse since banding.
maudeispam 2 Posted March 5, 2007 My stools wer always very firm to hard, prior to banding. Now I suffer Constipation on a regular basis. I am very frustrated with my dietician, surgeon and regular doc. They keep saying up the fiber, up your benefiber, use ducolax, use ground flax seed, but nothing really works all that well. I am beginning to wonder if I have IBS with constipation. I see my surgeon on Friday, I'm going to ask about Zelnorm....it is a prescription med for people who are irregular. I am tired of the chronic cycle. I can't even poo normal!
mellywelly 0 Posted March 31, 2007 After reading this forum I asked my Primary Care Doctor about a prescription for Zelnorm. I was suffering from severe Constipation - sometimes going 4 days w/out a bowel movement. I tried laxatives and stool softners, prunes, fibersure - nothing worked. The 1st day I took Zelnorm I had a bowel movement and I've had one everyday since. It is a big relief. I highly recommend it if you are suffering from constipation like I was.
