Weird expearience-does anyone know what this is or have it happen to them?

I don't know quite how to explain this. There have been a few occasions now where I feel like I am "eating air" – I'm not sure how else to describe it but, when I sit down to eat, it's almost as if my body needs to release the air or I can't actually eat. I am 3 1/2 weeks postop and am eating soft foods now… It's like I have to burp several times and it's difficult to do that. I never burp or I have never had to before. I don't know that makes any sense at all… Does anybody else had this type of experience? Where you have air that needs to escape your stomach or what have you?

Thanks for anybody's help or input,

Natalie

I get it all the time. I'm almost 4 months post op. And I think I feel it more now then I did at the beginning. Not sure what's going on though.

I haven't been sleeved yet but from one doctor's discussion I've recently watched on you tube there was something mentioned about the fact that the new stomach is long and narrow so it becomes "high pressure". I'm guessing as the stomach heals and adapts to all the different foods you've been introducing the last few months in this new "high pressure" environment, your symptoms will lessen.

Yes I have had similar experiences like that. Don't worry it is nothing to worry about. Good luck

It is most likely just because there is so much less room for air in your belly so any little bit requires to be burped out due to causing discomfort. Perfectly normal for increased burping post op. Good Luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
