a_jap21 5 Posted October 10, 2013 Is it bad or is it just because its carbs and its fattening?
magpie30 187 Posted October 10, 2013 it expands in the stomach and can cause pain and discomfort. put a piece of bread in a cup of Water and see what happens. 2 7 Bites_Jen and PdxMan reacted to this
ChristineR 128 Posted October 10, 2013 What Magpie said. It tends to expand and, especially in the early days, that will push on your staples. I can eat pita chips, low carb tortilla wrap, but I cannot eat a good ole piece of bread without feeling yucky.
LI Gemini NY 607 Posted October 10, 2013 My nutritionist said I can have bread as long as it's toasted. Toasted bread is easier on the stomach and is dissolved quickly. I buy bread that's already toasted. The brand is bauducco, it has 35 calories/ slice, 5.7 grams of carbs and .8 grams of fat. I put Peanut Butter on it or eat it with tuna salad.< /p> 1 crisbear reacted to this
7 Bites_Jen 479 Posted October 10, 2013 Agree with all above. That being said, you'll probably be able to eat it again in a few months - I couldn't eat it until I was about 9 or 10 months out.

LI Gemini NY 607 Posted October 10, 2013 I found it at a grocery chain called compare foods...these are all over NY, not sure if they have chains elsewhere but it was in the regular bread isle. I was imagine other grocers would carry it too.
Hannah55 79 Posted October 10, 2013 I can eat regular bread without toasting. No problem.
diannepj1960 28 Posted October 10, 2013 I can only eat the raisin bread toasted....
GypsyQueen 198 Posted October 11, 2013 I am 4 1/2 mo. out and can eat bread by itself, or at least rolls and croissants as evidenced by the cruise from which I just returned. But it's really just something we should limit greatly, for a multitude of reasons. It's definitely one of my trigger foods.
crickee 85 Posted October 11, 2013 I am 10 months out and can only tolerate about 1/2 slice of bread. If I plan on having subs with family, I will buy the flat sandwich rounds and cut them in half to use with the deli meat. Before the sleeve, I was a huge bread eater, not anymore.
