WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted March 2, 2007 Anyone know exactly what a partial slip is and if the repair must be surgically corrected? Thx
socalgal3 4 Posted March 2, 2007 Usually an unfill will correct a partial slip. An unfill will allow the stomach to fall back into place. If not addressed, the partial slip can turn into a complete slip, which MAY require revision surgery, depending on the individual situation. Do you have a slip? I don't think I do but my doc suspects it. I don't have a fill. Had a fill twice and had an unfill immediately each time. But symptoms are the same as before the first fill. What is a partial slip vs. a full slip?
socalgal3 4 Posted March 2, 2007 Well, I would go by what your doctor says. Do you have any symptoms of pain or heartburn? Are you able to eat normally or not at all? A partial slip is when the stomach is starting to come up through the band. A complete slip is when it has come up through and this makes the band tighten around the stomach. It's kinda hard to explain without a visual! My doctor pulled a tissue through the band to show me. Anyway, have you been PBing or vomiting alot? Overeating? That is what usually causes it, although a misplaced band can cause it too. How much were your fills?
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted March 3, 2007 Why would a partial slip not show up on a standard barium swallow? Sorry, I still don't get what it is.
*susan* 1,709 Posted March 4, 2007 I had some problems in early January, which resulted in massive vomiting causing my band to partially slip. And, you can see it with flouroscopy. Anyways, my doctor did an unfill and when I went in last week everything was back where it should be and I was able to bring my fill level back up.
