Hey y'all!!! I had my surgery 7/23/13, so a little over 2 1/2 months and I am down 51 lbs. I feel great! But....I'm stuck in my 2nd stall! My first one lasted 3 longggggg weeks! I tracked my food and I am only getting in 500-600 calories a day. I can't get in anymore because I'm not hungry or if I eat another bite I get nauseated and throw up :( any advice on what I should do to over come this stall? I drink A LOT of Water, about 100 oz a day so I know I don't have to up my Fluid intake. Help!

It sounds like you have no trouble with fluids, what about adding in a Protein Shake or two throughout your day? I would think that would be an easier way to get some more calories (and Protein too) into your day rather than trying to force feed yourself more food.< /p>

It is normal to have stalls throughout this weight loss period. Your body is adjusting in inches. You have done really great losing. Don't worry about it at this point. Take measurements of your body and Celebrate the inches loss.....I prefer to lose inches over lbs anyways.....:P

What kind of Protein Shake? My stomach is very sensitive :( I tried making my own with almond milk and I got dumping lol. But I do like Isopure rtd 0 carb drinks..its 40 grams of protein.

Whatever kind of Protein shake you were drinking in your first few weeks post-op, if you tolerated them well, would be a good one to try first. Otherwise there are many, many kinds available on the market both, pre-made and powders to mix your own. You'd just have to try some different ones until you find something you can tolerate. Isopure is a good idea too, would probably be about the same amount of calories as the average shake and of course lots of Protein.< /p>

That all being said, as time passes for you and your stomach relaxes a bit and allows you to take in more food, it is a good idea to try to get as many of your daily calories from whole foods rather than liquids.

If you haven't tried Premier Protein, then you really should.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
