NeuroSurgNurse 17 Posted October 13, 2013 I was sleeved on 10-9-13. I also had the issue with taking in a deep breath. I found that doing the incentive spirometer helped so much. Even though it was difficult the first few tries, as I kept doing it the pain went away. The lungs and intercostal muscles get very lazy after being under anesthesia and we have to "wake" them back up.
