What are some symptoms/signs of you not taking your vitamins?

Recommended Posts

My diet has been pretty **** to begin with, I go cookie galore....but in general I have just stopped taking my Vitamins. Still take my meds though.

See, I stopped taking my Vitamins for like 3 weeks, and Im..say...a little shy of 3 months post op....

And medically I havent felt much of a difference, but I notice that I am just TIRED and always feeling parched/dehydrated. I feel, ironically, the only time I can get hydrated is when I take liquid through a straw, because I gulp my liquids and that causes me to burp, versus a continuous stream...

But tired is my main thing. Im not sure if thats just because I stopped taking them a week before school starts, but I notice Im just always tired. Its not even a depression thing either. I know when Im depressed, I get apathetic as f**k, I just dont care. This is just more like mental exhaustion/fatigue....

Weird. Did you stop taking them like me, or did your body stop absorbing them, even postop?

I wonder how much of an effect Ill feel if I start taking thm. Honestly I stopped because it felt like a chore for something Im not sure if I needed....

Yes, I can assure you this is Vitamins issue. I felt very tired and exhausted first two weeks after surgery because my doctor did not allow me to take any Vitamin supplements. After two weeks I started taking them and felt much better after two weeks taking them regularly. Your body needs them to function properly and fatigue could be a big sign that you lack those vitamins (iron, B12 ... etc)

Hope that you start taking them back and feel better ...

Why did you stop? I feel amazing... I mean like I drank an espresso, won the lottery and found a puppy that poops rainbows amazing. I hated and I mean HATED my original Vitamins so I found ones I like... I work out, take my vitamins, slowly lose weight and feel better than I have in years. My diet isn't perfect, probably 80/20, 80% of the time I'm on track 20% I struggle. I try to stay low carb most of the week and than have a day like Monday where I'm carb crazy. I think that while actively losing vitamins are important, my surgeon recommended this surgery due to my aversion of vitamins. He knew I wouldn't take them forever, but I'm not doing too bad.

Vitamins might be a distraction (though you need these suppliments for the rest of your life. It's part of the sleeve "deal").

What maybe, just maybe needs to be your first concern is getting back on the program. Please get your head back in the game and get control. I do not want you to regain all your losses, and that does happen. Consider talking to a therapist - nothing wrong with that!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
