skinnymolly 4 Posted October 24, 2013 Your probably just till swollen and loaded with fluids from the hospital. I've read it's actually totally normal to go up after surgery..I would be discouraged too, but keep your head up!!

winnie410 1 Posted October 26, 2013 10 days out right now. I am surprised at how good I feel. I struggled with getting in all my Protein, mostly because everything tasted disgusting, but once I started drinking 1-2 shakes a day I had no more problems. Except that I hate the shakes. lol (not because they taste bad, I am just sick of them after a 3 week pre-op diet). Looking forward to the next stage of the diet. I have had enough of the fluids. Hope everyone is doing well.
LBD 121 Posted October 26, 2013 I feel like I'm one of the only people on this website who had surgery on the 15th and still hasn't got any energy back I feel weak after walking long periods of time I am trying to stay strong but I am really tired of feeling like this help. I get my drain taken out on Thursday hoping that helps. I feel that will help me feel better and yes I'm trying to get as much liquids as possible but every liquid I like that before surgery tastes awful including Water what to do please please please advise I'm very very scared that I won't be able to go back to work at the end of the month. Sweetness, you are not alone! I was completely fatigued, weak, no energy at all for the first week. I started on full liquids- Protein shakes, Soup, yogurt on Tuesday and I'm so much better- not 100% but better. My husband and son treated me to a Pearl Jam concert last night for my first night out! They wouldn't let me bring in my Protein shake so I went for a hunt for soup! The food vendors must have been wondering why it was so important to me lol. I also saw my doctor on Thursday and he suggested that I start on my Vitamins. I'm taking Bariatric fusion. 1 Sweetness88 reacted to this
LBD 121 Posted October 26, 2013 I have to add that since Tuesday when I started full liquids, my weight has stayed the same, even has gone up a pound! After losing 26 pounds from 10/2- 10/21, I guess the change of diet from Clear Liquids back to full can force a plateau? Maybe not enough calories? I'm getting 600- 700 calories daily. I'm not getting enough calories because when I have anything I have maybe a spoon or so:/
LBD 121 Posted October 26, 2013 I'm actually surprised to find that when I eat yogurt or Soup, I can easily have 6 ounces if I have it slowly, waiting maybe 30 seconds between spoonfuls. I get full more quickly with the yogurt, but I'm guessing that it slides through pretty easily. Are Protein Shakes easier for you to get down? So sorry you're having difficulty... Maybe still swollen inside. What did your doctor suggest?

You are not alone! I had my surgery 10/15 too- have a little more energy the past few days' date=' but overall still very fatigued! My idea of a field trip is to go to CVS to pick up a prescription... After that I need a nap! I'm only 27years old too, so I was hoping I would heal faster than if I were older, however no luck there. I understand that it can be frustrating reading about other people Who are 2 or 3 days out from surgery and feeling great, getting out of the house, walking, etc., I feel the same way. While I'm so happy for them, I just keep reminding myself that I just had major abdominal surgery, and that everyone is different, so I just need to push through this sucky stage, and eventually my whole life is going to be better. It's hard to believe it's nearly been 2 weeks already! We are doing so good, just have to keep it up and try to stay positive! 1 Sweetness88 reacted to this
Sweetness88 10 Posted October 26, 2013 Thanks so much. I'm down a total of 48lbs including weight I lost during liquid diet before hand. Now if I could do something about staying hydrated. I wouldn't be so weak and tired. 1 winnie410 reacted to this
winnie410 1 Posted October 27, 2013 I know you don't like Gatorade much but have you tried it since surgery? I was never a big fan but now I love it. My taste buds are all out of whack since there are things that I liked before but do not like now. Or maybe Powerade? My doctor told me to get something with electrolytes because I was also experiencing dehydration symptoms. I wonder if the pedialyte pops would work as well? It is what I used to give my son when he was sick. Just a thought.
jking72 7 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm now starting on puréed foods but I'm finding it hurts to eat puréed. Has anyone else experienced this or this just me?
jking72 7 Posted November 6, 2013 Now that I'm in the puréed food part if my diet I find I don't want to eat anymore. It doesn't taste good. Has anyone else had this?
