3 weeks out tomorrow! /skip pureed

Oh how I miss my salads! I doubt I'll ever be able to eat them quite like I used to(red cabbage' date=' spinach, carrots, cauliflower, croutons, light dressing) but even a small basic salad would make me so happy. I had a green bean for the first time last night, and it was soooo delicious <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I hope my taste buds didn't screw up their taste for the rest of my fave veggies. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

My taste buds didn't change. Except maybe for sweets. I got used to the sugar free taste. And I've had all that on my salad minus cauliflower and croutons.

Yay thanks for the hope. Now I shall go sleep and possibly even dream of a bowl of veggies lol :)

What have you tried so far and what does your stomach like best. I am 4 weeks out and eating soft foods but I kind of want some chicken.< /div>

I think we had surgery the same day. I have been eating canned chicken with broth so it's moist. Today was my daughters birthday and she chose Applebee's. I ordered the Napa Chicken. Made sure to chew well and had no issues.

What have you tried so far and what does your stomach like best. I am 4 weeks out and eating soft foods but I kind of want some chicken.

I have tried beef ragu sauce with vegetables - bit too rich, caused a fair amount of heartburn - I think this was due to the volume of tomatoes and the richness of the cheese

Roasted beef slice, potato, peas and carrots and gravy - went down a treat

Mini pork sausage (3), potato, peas and carrots and gravy - went down a treat

Slow roasted lamb shank, peas, broccoli, carrots and minted gravy - went down a treat

Shelled mini shrimp with cocktail sauce - lovely and very high in Protein for a very small portion

Steamed cod with parsley sauce - lovely

That's the sort of thing I've been eating for dinner. I've tended to have a Protein yoghurt drink, natural yoghurt with fresh blueberries for Breakfast. Maybe a slice of toast, sliced deli-ham and a bit of cheese for lunch.. (although it takes a bit of munching through, as my appetite doesn't kick in until about 3pm).

So that's about it. Soft, gravy dinners seem to work and they're very nutritionally balanced. Can't complain with how things have been going since commencing 'real' food. Managed to eat fresh Tomato, lettuce and onion in 1/3 of a sandwich today - so that made me very happy!

Tonight.. I am tackling sliced deli-chicken... Wish me luck!

I didn't have a pureed stage - we went from full liquids to soft foods. There are a lot of great options out there for this stage - Beans, canned tuna, chili, etc. In fact, our episode this week was on this. Hope it helps:

I'm 3weeks in and I also skipped puréed food so I'm so glad that I'm not the only one lol.. The only thing is I have some pain when the food go's down :-/... It last for like 3 seconds then stops and doesn't happen again. Should I go back or just ignore it. It's not bad pain it just feel uncomfortable like if I have to purp.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
