When did you notice that you can eat more in one sitting?

Recommended Posts

I am in week 8 post-op (I've lost 80+ lbs already since starting the process). Sometimes when I eat now, it feels like I can eat more than normal and it freaks me out that I've stretched my sleeve or something. Other times, in four bites I am full. A typical dinner for me these days is a small piece of chicken and a few brussel sprouts. Sometimes, though, I want a second piece of chicken.

I guess my question is - is it normal to start being able to eat more after a couple of months? I know there's an initial difference after a couple of weeks because the swelling goes down, but I thought it mostly stays the same until a year+ out.

Feels weird talking about eating a "second small piece of chicken" and feeling like a glutton, when back in the day I could drink a 6-pack and eat a large pizza by myself while watching the game haha.

Im beginning to notice too that it is much more comfortable to eat. I'm 8 weeks out too I'm

Not eating much but I'm finding that I don't need to wait 3 minutes between bites and I'm understanding my full feeling much more.

I just think its because the swelling probably has gone down in our stomachs and I know for myself I'm chew chew chewing everything.

But you might also be experiencing head hunger which is something we all need to work through.

I noticed I could start eating more at about 2 months, I went from eating 1 or 2 tablespoons every 15 minutes to eating 1/2 cup in 15 minutes. Then agian at month 9 I could eat 3/4 to 1 1/2 cups per meal depending on the density of the food.

I am more than two years out and my capacity slowly increased over the first year. Also my ability to tolerate certain foods increased over the first year and half.

I strongly recommend weighing and measuring your food as capacity increases. I would not eat more than 3-4 oz.s of Protein per meal, even if I could fit it in. I generally eat two ounces of Protein at Breakfast and lunch and three ounces of protein at dinner. Combined with the protein I get from dairy and other foods that meets my protein requirements for the day. And eating that amount of protein, combined with non starchy veggies and whole grains, keeps me filling full.

Sorry! I didn't see the group it was posted in. I've been married 33 years this spring so I know how to give a man his space :-)

I'm kind of answering backwards I guess. I am close to 2 years out and now eating the same portions I did at about 8-10 months post-op. My first few months post-op it gradually increased each month and at that 8-10 month mark it leveled off for me. But maybe that's just me, I think we all kind of differ.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
