Wow Jackal!!

Just a little improvement... LOL!

You look GREAT.

Hugs!

MusicalMomma - yeah - those insurance charts suck. I heard somewhere that your bones get more dense when you carry weight for a long time - and the insurance charts just don't take that into consideration.

Thanks to everyone for posting on this thread. I am 5' 1" and 325lbs making my BMI 61.5! I am scheduled to be banded on June 14th with Dr. Malley in KC. My husband is scheduled to be banded on May 24th, so we are taking the journey together. I am a nurse, an old OR nurse in fact, so there was no way I was going to have or let my husband have an open procedure. But even when lap bypasses came along, I did not like the nutritional complications that still existed with that procedure. I was so excited to find the LapBand - I truly believe it is the answer for both of us. We both need major help with Portion Control.< /p>

Tasha - I would encourage you to speak to your primary care physician as well as a gynecologist. My gynecologist is very supportive of my choice and wrote a very good recommendation to my insurance company. She helped me through 3 miscarriages and eventually a successful pregancy, so she knew more of my issues than my PCP. Even though I don't have outward co-morbidities at this time - it is only a matter of time before they start. If I could have made this choice at 20 I would have!

Good Luck to everyone no matter what stage in your journey you are.

And still single all you Texas girls! Go figure. LOL LOL LOL...

Thanks, living proof, you can do it!

Don't you worry, Sugar.

I would hazard a guess that you won't have nearly as much trouble meeting Miss Right as you might have in the past.

Smile a lot. Look women in the eye. Flirt.

You can do it! Just remember - the worst they can say is "No".

You have to kiss a lot of toads before you find your Princess.

No reason you can't enjoy the process....

Good Luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
