December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Recommended Posts

There is another NUT but I doubt she will vary much - this is the standard for the clinic and is outlined in the aftercare manual. I am really tempted to do some research and find another WLS doc/clilnic's aftercare suggestions and try following those and see what that does for my weight loss. I understand staying low carb - but going excessively low carb and staying in ketosis for what could easily be a year just does not seem like it can be healthy. What happens when I do start eating carbs? Thanks for letting me vent. :)

Hopefully something good will happen...seeking another WLS clinic might be the safest route for you.

Best wishes to you and please keep us informed. :)

So I didn't have a NUT as I'm in Canada and had my surgery in Mexico. I'm getting 40-50g Protein and 60ish oz of Water. That's all I focus on. Before I wasn't eating enough carbs and I felt lethargic. It was terrible. Now I usually eat some rice crisp crackers in the afternoon with high Protein cheese and that really helps. I would suggest to do what feels right. On Monday I'll be 10 weeks out. I generally eat what I want but keep it simple. I'm not at all interested in sweets or fries foods but I do still eat what tastes good. Do what makes sense. My fav is in the morning I'll slice up some roast beef, Tomato, and cheese and throw that in an omelet with one egg and some soy milk and YUMMERS!! Plus it's 14g protein. A good way to start the day!! :) I don't do shakes or protein supplements. I tried. I hated them all. Made me sick to my stomach. Why live life like that? I don't even feel bad about it. Be happy, that's why we all went through this! Whatever I'm doing must be working as I've lost almost 60lbs and haven't really hit much of a stall. Still lose 1-2lbs a week or every 10 days. I exercise two to three times a week depending on how busy I am. I hope you feel better about your journey. Don't let your nutty NUT tell you otherwise!! Good luck!

Private message me your email address. I have my manual on my computer. Not saying it's better than the rest but maybe you could use it as a reasonable tool to help you decide what is best for you. My NUT also does phone consultations. I live in Denver and they are in Dallas, where I had my surgery and LOTS of surgeries are done. They are independent from my surgeon and specialize in post bariatric surgery patients. Let me know if you want their info.

I TOTALLY agree! I eat anything I want also. I just eat MUCH smaller portions. Whatever the rest of my family eats, I eat. With the exception of fried foods. I did hit a stall, but it has since picked up. You have to feed your body to give it something to burn off. Listen to your body and you will be fine!

on another note, I started with a personal trainer on Wednesday and OMG...All I can say is OUCH! She kicked my ass! I'm gonna keep up with it cause as we all know....no pain....no LOSS...lol!

Ok, two month update: 60 lbs lost. I started eating a few things here and there outside of diet, but keep in mind a healthy lifestyle, healthy diet and very heavy on Proteins.

I have not had my two month appt yet but called NUT to talk to her about working out and diet. I feel so good and got clearance to work out so I've been working my butt off and the results are coming in.

I still get nauseous if I drink Water too fast and at times forget to drink it slowly. I really can eat anything I want at this point but choose not to as a reminder of all the hard work to get me here and stick to the healthy diet.

I hope all of you are seeing your results. I look drastically different, lost 3 whole pant sizes and am about to lose another.

Keep on keeping in everyone. We all worked hard and will get there!!

Today I bought yoga pants and a t shirt XL down from a tight size 22- probably should have been wearing a 24! I am so excited to get something that wasn't a plus size... Don't think I am out of the women's section yet, as the yoga pants are stretchy... But I'm getting closer

Well dec. sleevers it's been two months and three days since my VGS. I'm down 52.4 from my highest weight. I'm overjoyed with my weight loss and higher energy level. The journey has had it highs and lows but the highs out weigh the lows. I'm so glad I made this decision and I look forward to my new life and all the activities I've been missing (but didn't know it). Wishing all of my Dec. buddies well and would love to hear about your progress. Miss seeing your thoughts, rantings, and ideas. :-)

Officially down 50lbs! Great milestone to hit after my Dec 5th surgery. All has been going well overall but only issue is I travel for work a lot and eating out for company meals with clients

WLS date 12/5/13

Pre surgery weight 235

Current weight 185

Down 4 sizes in my clothes

All has been going well and I'm down 50 lbs. Only issue is eating out and remember to eat slow with little liquids, if not I get that sick feeling.

Starting to ramp up exercise and hired a trainer for 3 months, really enjoy everything I want but no junk, no soda, no red meat and alcohol. I really don't have the desire to have the things I'm not eating anymore. It's great to finally feel comfortable in my own skin (proud of the lady in the mirror) and feel more confident. I have a wonderful support system my husband had bypass 7 yrs ago and my 2 sisters had WLS within the past 3 yrs. feeling positive:)

Bittersweet moment- when you realize you can't wear your wedding rings because of your weight loss so far. I don't want to lose them, so when I get to goal I will have them resized....maybe I will talk my husband into an upgrade ; )

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
