VSG AJH 499 Posted December 31, 2013 I had my sleeve on December 10th, and not sure of my regerts just yet. If you would have asked me a week ago I would've told you yeah I regret the surgery its painful it's slow going its hard during the holidays umm everyone tells me that eventually it's going to get better. I'm finally back at work today my back is just killing me sitting in a chair but I know I need to work through this its just right now it sucks. Why the heck does your back hurt so much? Also I gained 2lbs??? I have heard of the three week stall does this make sense? There's a good chance you're constipated. I've been pretty constipated a couple of times since surgery. Back and hips hurt, bloated, etc. if you haven't had regular BMs, your symptoms might be explained.
AtlantaRed 651 Posted December 31, 2013 I had my surgery on 12.12.13. I feel pretty good. Remembering to drink, is hard. I have to make myself do it. I'm also having trouble taking all the medication and supplements. I've reached the pureed food stage. It's not too terrible, but I would like to chew again! The Food Network and the Cooking Channel has turned into porn for me... Has anyone given any thought as to what they would like to do about exercise? I'm thinking Yoga. I ordered a mat etc. I wish I wanted to run. I don't. I have had dreams of me running! lol However, I got this surgery because over the last year, my knee and hip have been hurting so bad. Hopefully I didn't cause long-lasting damage being so heavy! I really enjoy hiking. By hiking, I mean walking the trails at different state parks. I love being outside with nature and usually prefer to do it alone. Lots of thinking can go on during that time. Plus, once on a trail, you kind of have to finish it. I get lost in thought and the changing scenery and really enjoy it. Plus, walking on dirt is so much easier on your feet and back than walking on the sidewalk or street. I would also like to try yoga at some point. I'm not usually one for classes. I will join a gym soon for weights but will hope to get my cardio outside. 1 LessofApril reacted to this

AtlantaRed 651 Posted December 31, 2013 You will get through this donaboss!! We had major surgery! Can you sleep some with the head of the bed higher to help with the gas until you can walk? It can totally stink for the first week or few, but the rest of our lives will be better! Hang in there! 1 RunningA5K reacted to this

donaboss 131 Posted December 31, 2013 Hi pals, So I had my surgery yesterday. I have to say that I wanted a redo that's how much it hurts. I kept gagging because of all the gas and there is nothing they can give you to make it stop besides you have to walk. And who wants to walk just few hours after surgery? Not me for sure. So even though you feel like you need to throw up, nothing will come out but but gas. I was regretting and should of put more thoughts into it. They were giving me medications but still felt discomfort. Finally in the evening I took few walks including 3 am because of the gas pain. You have no choice believe me. Omg I am literally peeing every hour because of all the Fluid they are giving me. I am still epo until my test later. Hopefully I won't have a problem. Oh I had throat discomfort and it was so scratchy. I told my nurse and she ordered me this spray which they approved and she sprayed it on my throat. At first the taste was horrible I felt like I wanted to throw up but OMG it helped sooo freaking much. It numbs the throat. Right now it's 6:30am and honestly I feel good. No pain besides maybe my back hurts a little and I can feel my scars when getting up to use the bathroom which is normal. I thank god for not having any shoulder pain how some explained. Maybe it might start later but as of right now I am good. The nurse said that's because of gas and as much as you walk.. It will help a lot. So do I have regrets now? Not so much. I feel normal and forgot I had surgery lol. So don't be discouraged everyone is different 1 KaminaBlue reacted to this

bmm35 27 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Sandisleeve are you going back to hot yoga? I have been hesitant because I sweat so much and I am concerned about dehydration. Edited December 31, 2013 by bmm35 1 LessofApril reacted to this

As for exercise, I hired a personal trainer, he has me doing cardio and light weights plus resistance training. 1 LessofApril reacted to this

trinarehl 3 Posted December 31, 2013 first can I say thank you for all the kind words everybody here is very helpful and I appreciate it know that others than the same position I am. it helps to know that I'm not the biggest baby in the entire world. Donabos gosh I know exactly how you feel just being at the hospital few weeks ago, that's exactly how I was it was an awful experience with the gas I thought I was going to die. I had extremely high blood pressure while there with massive headaches it sucked but it does get better. Wow I never thought I'd say that it does get better, guess it does and I know it will get better month after month especially when I see the scale move it's just tough in the beginning and you gotta work through it. Constipation what do you do about that cause I definitely have that. I tried to get some Metamucil but I can't drink it fast enough and solidifies too much. Again thank you everybody for your kind comments and your replies I truly truly appreciate it it's nice to know there's others like me out there!!!
tami j 277 Posted December 31, 2013 So sometimes I am able to drink my Water so quickly and several ounces at a time, I keep thinking there is something wrong with me! All liquids go down way to easy.... I want puree so bad just to feel that restriction to make sure all is as it should be. I am still not "hungry" so that is a good thing, but with the liquids only, I really don't get that full feeling. 1 barefeet reacted to this

All liquids go down way to easy.... I want puree so bad just to feel that restriction to make sure all is as it should be. I am still not "hungry" so that is a good thing, but with the liquids only, I really don't get that full feeling. I can now sort of gulp water too. I can do about 5 swallows in a row which I am thankful for. Its much easier for me to get my water in that way. You may not have restriction with pureed either. Puree is supposed to be thin like applesauce and applesauce goes down easily for me. For some people, they only feel restriction with solid foods. I'm on soft foods and I have restriction with refried Beans and deli meat. I start burping which is my warning to stop eating although I absolutely measure out ALL of my food so as not to overeat. Go through the steps as laid out for you. Just don't rely on feeling full as your sign to stop. We don't need to be full, just not hungry. Meausre out everything according to your guidelines and know that it is indeed filling your sleeve. Some people are able to reach their nut and ask about moving through to the next stage sooner if they are doing well. Might as well try. All they can say is no. Good luck! 2 tami j and Jerzygurl reacted to this
