I'm feeling really good almost back to normal however the scale on the other hand is not good I'm assuming it's the dreaded 3 week stall all the vets talk about I've only shown a 2 oz loss in the last 3 days. I know it will pass but it's so frustrating.

My journey is basically a stall with weight loss in between! It has to happen at some point!

Hi all! I've really been enjoying the encouragement lately. Thanks to the regular posts, it's been a boost! I'm doing great, but I've started to really crave veggies. I was sleeved on 12/18 and I will still be on mushy food for a few days. With getting in Protein, I haven't been able to get much of the veggies in. How are you getting them in?

I know this is totally off topic but I have to vent. I'm not very close with my dad, he lives in Chicago and I live in Manitoba Canada. He's coming for a visit this evening and staying at my house for a week. (Never buy a house with extra guest bedrooms!!!!)

My mom promised me she would come over to help me talk to my dad about the gastric sleeve as he has no idea. I was sleeved on December 9th and down 36lbs, so at this point it's fairly obvious. My dad is not a sensitive man, he's called me fat my whole life and laughed when others have called me fat. I'm really nervous to even eat in front of him and now I have to go through telling him about my surgery.

My parents have been divorced for 14 years but they're still friends and see and talk to each other often. When my dad is mean to me my mom will stick up for me (sometimes). I talked to her this morning and she said she'd be over by 3. Well it's now 4, my dad should be here any minute and she's not here. Not answering her phone and I've texted her several times.

I know I'm 30 and should just suck it up and put my big girl pants on (that are getting smaller these days!!) but it's really hard facing my dad alone. Worse yet, my sister who is fairly supportive of me is out of town. So it is literally just me, that's a lie... I have my wonderful husband and three amazing children who love me for me. :o)

Does anyone else have difficulty telling family members about their sleeve??

Why do you feel you are required to tell him? You don't really owe him an explanation about it especially if he has ridiculed you about your weight.

Why do you feel the need to tell him? "Diet and exercise" is my go-to answer!

I agree-- you don't owe him or anyone else an explanation. Keep it to yourself and enjoy the support of your family . And if he gives you a hard time about anything, ask him to leave. Your house, your guest room, your rules.

If I had ur number, wow! In any case, I agree w the others. U don't have to tell him anything but if u must, u can say, well I got sick n tired of being berated by those who are suppose to love me. So I've decided to do something about it. I'm choosing to love myself, love my hubby n children, and try and b an example for them. I'm trying to be healthier and show myself and my family, hubs n kids, that no1 deserves to b bullied about how they look but showing them how to love themselves no matter how they look, SO I've CHOSEN to do it in a healthier way. Love u dad, now I'm not going to share a week of my weightloss w u. Now welcome n have a seat!

I agree with the others, this is your time, he need know nothing. I can totally understand how you feel as my Mother was the one who hated my weight growing up (she passed away in 2001). You are never too old to want your parent's approval, but know this, he is wrong and mean to treat his own daughter badly. You can love him for other reasons, but you don't have to put up with anyone treating you badly! Take a deep breath and take it easy. If he is rude, show him the door! We're behind you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
