I had my sleeve on December 10th, and not sure of my regerts just yet. If you would have asked me a week ago I would've told you yeah I regret the surgery its painful it's slow going its hard during the holidays umm everyone tells me that eventually it's going to get better. I'm finally back at work today my back is just killing me sitting in a chair but I know I need to work through this its just right now it sucks. Why the heck does your back hurt so much? Also I gained 2lbs??? I have heard of the three week stall does this make sense?

I think none of it makes sense but it's all normal! I gained weight last week. I was sleeved on the 13th. It took a whole week for that pound to crawl down by ounces and then sit for a few days. I'm now down .6 pounds. I'll take it. It has to come off at some point. It is very tough the first few weeks. No matter how prepared we think we are, we don't really understand until we actually go through it. I went through mental issues that I just knew I woupdnt. It's all a process and as ling as we keep to our programs, we will each get through it. Keep your head up and hang in there. I know starting back to work is rough.

Just because I can't contain the excitement from the Pounds lost thread (and I wanted to make sure if anyone is participating that might not be subscribed to that thread that they get to see the numbers):

Out of 77 people who gave me their goals, I have heard from 47 of them = 61%

We currently have a grand total of pounds lost recorded at 9401 pounds

From the 47 people who have reported their weight loss, we are currently at 1492.1 pounds lost

That is 16% towards our goal!

I had surgery today at 7:30.. Once I said bye to my mom I was soo sad I was crying an breathing heavily. I had a nurse who was holdings hand and I pretended she was my mom. She told me she wouldn't let go. I was sooo scared. The staff was nice and all. I was regretting it so much I wasted to stop but I knew this was what I wanted. Woke up in pain. Could barely open my eyes. I refused pain medication and my mom and sister apparently. Woke up again after 30 and asked for my mom and medication. My scares do not hurt at ALL. It's my throat that does. It's a just a MUST that you AlL bring a blistex with you. That's helping me a lot. You have no idea so please listen and go buy one. My throat is very dry. There was few times that I wants to throw up but there was nothing to vomit except gas. Omg that hurts so much. I am sad that I am feeling this way. And please don't think I am discouraging anyone just telling my story. They just gave me medication and for dizziness. I am sitting up at the moment bc they said it help with the gas. My back it's staring to hurt a little. Do I have regrets? Maybe just a little! I feel my stomach empty but even if I could I wouldn't want to eat or drink anything. I've been doing the breathalyzer thingy every hour because it helps. I also have a heart monitor since I had heart surgery. Ohh and they wrapped these massage things on my leg which helps with the blood clots but my legs feel so good I am loving it. I will check back later

Feel better fast!!

Those compression boots are very important and do save lives. Walking helps and so does the spirometer to maintain deep breathing. My throat didn't hurt a bit but boy were my lips dry. The ice chips helped me soooooo much in the beginning and still do even tho I don't have dry lips anymore. My back or shoulders never hurt but boy did I feel like I had a ton of bricks lodged in my chest cavity. Hernia pain kicked my ass and still does today at 18 days post op. it's a very emotional process so get ready to feel things like initial regret sadness frustration discomfort weakness fatigue and of course relief that the surgery is all over and you made it through safely.

Best wishes!!

My bed is really high too. The first 3 nights, I slept in a recliner. After that, I got tired of sitting in the recliner all day and sleeping in it at night. I keep a foot stool by the bed and was able to step up, sit on the side and swing my legs over to sleep on my back. When getting out of bed, pull your knees up towards your chest and roll onto your side and then push yourself up to a sitting position.

I was sleeved on the 13th. My pain is finally subsiding. I have it mostly now when I slouch over when sitting.

It does get better.

food doesn't interest me either. Nothing tastes great anymore, but I'm glad about that. It keeps me from WANTING to eat. I now just eat because it's time to eat. I'm focusing on thinly sliced deli meats as they have a lot of Protein in them (i'm on the soft stage and deli meats are allowed). I have one shake in the morning and then around 3 ounces of meat for lunch and dinner with some cheese sticks in between.

I had a gain too last week. It has slowly crept back down, but no losses yet in over a week. It will come though. It has to!

Just watched an interesting documentary from the BBC called "10 Things You Need to Know About Losing Weight." May provide some insight into why we are asked to consume so much Protein. Here's a link to the online version of the show:

I had my surgery on 12.12.13. I feel pretty good. Remembering to drink, is hard. I have to make myself do it. I'm also having trouble taking all the medication and supplements. I've reached the pureed food stage. It's not too terrible, but I would like to chew again! The Food Network and the Cooking Channel has turned into porn for me...

Has anyone given any thought as to what they would like to do about exercise? I'm thinking Yoga. I ordered a mat etc. I wish I wanted to run. I don't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
