Don't know why that last reply posted 3 xs sorry. I'm new here my date is Dec 30 th. I've been working on this since June. My first date was suppose to be in November but after several insurance denials I've decided to take it into my own hands and do self pay in Mexico. I'm very excited and very nervous. Is there a Dec Facebook group?

Hello and Merry Christmas to all my sleevers and families! I wanted to give my story and update on my sleeve from the 11th. All went well with surgery. I woke up confused of course and in a little pain. . Nothing to fuss about... more sore than anything. Day 1 was weird. .I just had calls and text messages out of the Yin yang and I was loopy but I walled the track of the hospital at least 3 times. .. one time I felt like I over did it because the soreness went to pain. They took such good care of me and my boyfriend was all over it. .He made sure I had everything I needed including a smile. I did not have any gas pain whatsoever (praise God) I had no nausea or vomiting (praise God) and still haven't had either. Before I was discharged they wanted me to get down a certain about of fluids and once he said. .Well if you can get this down you go home. .I tried my hardest. .1 oz every 15 minutes. I took down more than I expected. I was sent home and oh boy. .......... The pain kicked my arse. .Now don't get me wrong. .. it wasn't bad but around a 6...I was on pain meds for at least 3 days and done. I tried to walk as much as I could. sleeping is uncomfortable because I'm a tummy sleeper but it's getting better. I'm getting in my fluids but slacking on my Protein (bad girl) I'm so ready for food is crazy. You don't realize how much you want food until you see big Mac commercials on television. .Oh my lanta is horrible. I haven't cried over my decision once but silly commercials make me tear up quick lol silly me. Constipation is a beast. .Get ready. .But Miralax and a magnesium pill and proboitics help alot. I want food. I am 2 weeks post op and puree doesn't start until jan 2nd but I did sneak some instant mashed.. just some off the tip of a fork and that was my Christmas gift. .. The absolute best. I have lost 20 lbs so far and feel a little different. I can see a difference in my face and my ring is very loose! Just wanted to share a little since I haven't updated since surgery. I tried to type all of this on my lap top but the website is just eew..so please excuse any typos from ac! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday with family and friends and a happy new year. .. it's a new year and we all have something to Celebrate. God bless!

I pureed some turkey and sweet potatoes with the juice from the potatoes...3 bites later I was stuffed!! They were the best 3 bites EVER! Im on full liquid, but got the ok to puree some Christmas dinner from my surgeon yesterday.

Happy Christmas Eve!

Surgery yesterday morning and I am doing pretty well. I was up walking by 1:30 in the afternoon and am trying to do this every time I get up to pee, which is about every 2hours.

My incisions are sore but not unmanageable. They started giving me ice chips right away which really helped with the sore throat from air tube . I have some mild nausea and they are giving me a little bit of medication for tat now.

I have to drinks 60 ml Water every hour until noon. If tolerated, I ca go to Clear liquids this afternoon.

I do have a drain---doesn't hurt but is a liile uncomfortable. I am expecting to be released tomorrow morning. All in all, it's been uneventful which is good. I will keep you all abreast of that transpires.

Again, so many thanks to all who shared their experiences. It's helped a lot!

Tarheel 79:

So happy to hear from you and that you are doing well - uneventful is good! Two things I would recommend from my experience is 1) don't let them give you a flu shot before you leave (they did this to me and I think it made me weaker) 2) Ask to try out the liquid pain reliever that you will go home with for at least a few hours before you are discharged. They gave me a strong pain reliever orally right before I left, and either that pain reliever or the flu shot, or both are what I think caused me all the nausea.

If you can try the oral pain reliever a few hours before you leave, you will know how well your new tummy can handle it before you get home!

I spoke to the nutritionist at my Dr.'s office on Monday and he said that the 64 oz. of liquids and 60+ grams of Protein are just a target, he said in the beginning to just do as well as you can and don't sweat it. This has helped with my mental attitude over the last couple of days.

Merry Christmas to my fellow NC gal!

.

Thanks for your encouraging message, I actually had a flu shot in October so that option wasn't in play. I did try out the pain med before I left (roxicet) and was able to tolerate it well.

Came home this morning and I continue to do pretty well. I did stages 1& 2 at the hospital so I am on stage 3 now for a couple of weeks. I'm not going to wig out about hitting Fluid and Protein goals for these next few days. I am only going to focus on a workable schedule and increasing with each day. I know that approaching it this way will set me up to be more successful in the long run.

I did get on the scale when I got home and was up only 3 pounds from before surgery-- that makes me pretty happy, not so much progress to have lost temporarily.

My husband asked me this afternoon if I feel it's been worth it so far and told him "Absolutely!"

I hope everyone has as positive a journey so far.

I do have a question about the Facebook page-- if you join the group, can your friends see your postings or that it has been added to your list of 'likes'? I am keeping this whole thing quiet at this point and I signed off the page when someone else posted that friends could see this activity. Do you know if this is the case?

I think it's so empowering that our group of December sleevers are sharing this experience so openly and willingly. Maybe we should try to have an online conference call once a month or so as we move forward, to keep the communication going. What do you think?

Have a restful evening!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
