I am in a very difficult place right now emotionally;

I'm 6 weeks post-op today and will be starting soft foods tomorrow;

I wish I could eat a cookie; or a piece of cake- maybe some chips and salsa or a slice of pizza;

I've been following all of my dr.'s orders; though I rarely get all my Water and Protein in-

I just feel depressed...and I'm not sure why- overwhelmed and stressed; juggling the many hats I wear on a daily basis as well as changing my whole eating has put the cherry on top and I'm not in a good place right now...

Almost had a breakdown today :/

Anyone felt like this before?

Been there as well... I call it the "WTF did I do to myself" phases. My dr warned me that I will go through it.

Take it one day at a time - and in a few weeks you will be on solids and somewhat normal diet. The first few months are the hardest and I promise it will get better.

Try as much as possible to find some you time. Ask for help from friends and family. The most important thing is to stay hydrated. Don't stress as much about the Protein intake - that comes secondary to Water and hydration.

Stay positive - the suffering you are going through now is the cost of getting healthy. It's no walk in the park - but once your at the end of the tunnel - you will see it was worth it all.

Hope this phase goes by quickly for you!!

You need some nutrition:) What is on the menu for you tomorrow? I had some Autumn Squash Soup at Panera the other day that was awesome--definitely planning on it for my soft stage:) It was kind of thick.

I am almost 3 months out and I still have days like that. They are getting fewer and fewer as the weeks go by. It will get better and like everyone has said, you are not alone in feeling this way.

You have lost your most favorite coping mechanism - food. This is a tough adjustment, no way around that. But you can do it! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, stay the course and you will be do glad that you did. You are worth all of this effort!

I think everyone feels like that. Me? On a thrice weekly basis so far. My coping mechanism is surfing websites of expensive clothing manufacturers, fantasising about what I will buy and mocking the afflicted. It is a healthy and productive distraction.

Take a deep breath, try and throw yourself into something which will occupy your mind and don't be ashamed to shed the odd tear whilst telling people to bugger off! After all, it's entirely natural.

Hang in there, honey x

Go try on your old clothes. That should cheer you up. Always works for me.

I agree that solid (soft) foods will improve your outlook greatly. I think you will see a big difference!

I went through that dark place. No one warned me. But I went to see a counselor for a couple of months and it really helped to just talk through some things. Good luck...hang in there!

I am 6 weeks out tomorrow :)

If it helps at all look at it this way... You can eat a cookie, cake, pizza etc... You are choosing not too! That's the awesome part... Be encouraged by the thought that now you are in control!

This is a life changing surgery but I can guarantee you it will pay off.

We have all tried those treats before.. We know what they taste like (and although yummy!) it didn't do anything for my butt and thighs haha... Embrace the new you! Journal if you have too. I read a few days ago on my journal how gross and " fat" I felt a few months ago... I read it now and I'm like yeah kiss my slowly fading big butt lol! I'm beating you this time.... YOU can do this!!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
