Day 4 is in the books

Recommended Posts

Day 4 of liquids is done and I must say that today was much better than yesterday. I did have some pretty bad nausea today and was dizzy, but it seems that has subsided. Onto day 5 tomorrow...and Friday is weigh in day. I wish 50 pounds could be lost in one week, but I know thats not going to happen.

Your doing great, I dread that part but you are an insparation. I know it's just the beginning of the process but it's still scary, it's good to know your doing so well. I'm still waiting for approval.

Thanks so much. I am on the preop for 4-6 weeks so it is hard. I just keep reminding myself of the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm tentatively scheduled for nov 19th pending insurance approval. I'm so sick of being like this I'm temped to start my pre-op now with you. Do you get any solids at all?

No solids at all. I get 4 Protein shakes a day, unlimited sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, broth and Water. That is all. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

But you are doing it beautifully :)

Have I told you yet today that I'm so impressed by your determination?

Well I am, and I know you are going to get there soon!

Well you are in luck, because I don't know where you live to get you!!!

I don't think most people can go a month without having a slip up...

Oh kids dinners are the worse (or the hardest) I always finished my children's leftover bits as not to waste! Now I scrape them into the garbage or the digs bowl.. And It's still hard sometimes!

Don't feel like a failure because you are not. Just try and do better tomorrow! Just remember this is in your hands and you are giving yourself a wonderful gift that you deserve :)

Thanks Laura...you are one of the most supportive people I know. I am going to do my best not to have another slip up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
