Look at my sad photo - **Warning** MAJOR pity party

Recommended Posts

This is my luggage all packed and ready for my Mexico sleeve adventure with Dr Illan. It's been laying there since last Wednesday but I never got to Mexico. My house/pet sitter had a family emergency and so I had to cancel.

I was so bummed I haven't even been back to this forum until now. I would have been sleeved last Saturday and coming home tomorrow.

To make matters worse I can't even re-book straight away. I'm becoming a US Citizen next week and cannot leave the country without a US Passport so it's going to be another 2-3 weeks. I know I sound whiny but I had worked myself up to this for several weeks, I had been on a liquid diet for a week too so this just threw me for a loop.

Anyway, that's my vent out of the way, I will be more cheerful from now on I promise !!

Cute luggage! I'm sorry that happened, but it'll only be a few weeks and you can reschedule! And now, you've had some practice at the liquid diet! :)

Aww, that's a justifiable whinge. You must be very disappointed. Not least because you'd done a week of liquids! Try not to be too glum. Give it another few weeks and you'll be good to go again. Hang in there, treacle :) x

lol no, treacle is a sweet Syrup like substance made out of molasses. So, to american-ize it, I suppose it's akin to calling someone 'sugar', or 'honey'? And OI! What's wrong with British bloody puddings? ! We make some of the unhealthiest stodge in the world! <she says whilst rubbing her overly rotund belly>

I totally get it. I had to reschedule my surgery at the last minute because of a pre op test coming back whacko. It took the wind out my sails in a way I can't explain.

Good news, sleeved a few weeks later and SO worth the wait!

Good luck to you, it will be worth it!

Why would one want to eat a pudding made of blood? I prefer mine to be made of chocolate.

YES !! that is a great way of describing it - I was completely deflated. You spend so much time preparing yourself and thinking about it and stressing about it and all of a sudden it isn't there. It was the weirdest feeling - I stayed home all weekend in a fog, just did not know what to do with myself. So glad that you got sleeved and through it though - that's got to feel great !!

We do in fact eat something called black pudding which is made out of pigs blood... It's delicious! :)

Eeeeeek! I meant you were sad. I'd be sad, too, if I had to push my date out. Did I say something different in your English? :D

And yes....we have an international market and spotted d**k always gets my husband and teenaged girls snickering madly. Don't know what it is, but it does inspire giggly laughter for at least two aisles.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
