hopeliveshere 294 Posted October 8, 2013 Maybe a strange question but i was just wondering if any post op people have any experience eating beef Jerky? I am still pre-op but this happens to be one of my all time favorite Snacks (plus i know its pretty high in protein). Any problems with it going down or chewing it? is this a good snack option? Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted October 8, 2013 I can eat it easily. But I can't really give any insight on nutrition (besides its high in protein). 1 sonya139 reacted to this
sonya139 95 Posted October 8, 2013 It's my new favorite now. I became interested recently because a lot of post ops eat it. I'm still pre op so I decided to find out what they were so hyped about and fell in love. What I keep hearing is to make sure you chew, chew, chew, chew, chew, chew....I think more RNY folks have problems with it getting stuck. Never heard anything like that from Sleeves. 1 hopeliveshere reacted to this
TapSnap 357 Posted October 8, 2013 I ate Ostrim sticks for awhile 2-4 months after surgery. It was enough to fill me up and has 14g of Protein and only 100cal. http://www.protos-inc.com/ My Nut recommends them to other patients as well after I brought them up to her. 1 sonya139 reacted to this

joatsaint 2,814 Posted October 8, 2013 I ate some once I was allowed full foods again (about week 4). I didn't have any problems with it. And I found the best Jerky EVER! Oberto Bacon jerky :-P 1 Sleeved in Seattle reacted to this
newat52 1,613 Posted October 8, 2013 While I love beef Jerky, especially the teryiaki Jacks link. It it so yummy. I can eat it with no problems (I am 7 months out) but I only have it when I am traveling, which I do a lot of. I take that and roasted edemame for Snacks in the hotels or a Meal Replacement if need be. Both are high in protein.I don't have it at home because the bag will disappear one chunk at a time. No beueno. And the sodium content is rather high and I try to watch that.
SandeeD 363 Posted October 8, 2013 Here's a recipe for ground beef Jerky. I'm going to try it soon. http://wellnessmama.com/2201/ground-beef-jerky/ 1 gamergirl reacted to this

It's almost the perfect on-the-go snack. There's a beef jerky outlet store here I recently discovered that has beef, venison, alligator, elk, kangaroo - all kinds! The only downside to jerky is that it tends to be a little high in sodium. 1 hopeliveshere reacted to this
