linda305 173 Posted October 8, 2013 Is a catheter used after surgery? It looks painful and hope its not necessary. Linda305
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted October 8, 2013 It's your doctor's preference. I did not have one, but my surgery was also outpatient.
Camella 209 Posted October 8, 2013 No I didn't have one, although in some ways I wish I had. Let's just say it's hard to rush to bathroom immediately after surgery.

Roo101769 742 Posted October 8, 2013 I haven't had my sleeve done yet, but I had a catheter when I had a C section in 2008. There is a little mild discomfort when they insert it. Right after you have the weirdest sensation. You feel yourself urinating and think it is going to get all over, but of course it does not. Then your body sort of "gets used to it" and you no longer can feel your bladder emptying into it. Removal was easy, they just gently pull it out. No discomfort in that. While I would be happy not having to get another, if it happens I am not worried by it.
piercedqt78 658 Posted October 8, 2013 I had one, it was inserted after I was knocked out. I had it in for just over 24 hours. It was so I didn't have to rush to the bathroom, and also to monitor urine output. I was glad I had it in that first day, since I was sleepy and really sore. Not having to try to sit or stand quickly that first day was a blessing. And they just deflate it and slip it out. The only discomfort I had the entire time related to that was the first time I had to pee after burned a little. But it wasn't horrible. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
