Yes, it is TOTALLY conceivable to gain Water weight with your TOM. You are also comparing morning weights with evening weights. Definitely going to weigh more in the evening.

Honey, step away from the scale. It's going to make you crazy!

On second thought -- when you ask "am I in trouble?" ....well have you been eating sensibly, exercising, and staying hydrated? If your answers are yes, yes, and yes, then no you're not in trouble. Keep doing all the right things, and the fat loss will happen.

And don't obsess about the scale!! :D

Throw the 163.9 out. It doesn't count. It looks like the 162 was this morning. Go with that one. Everyone's weight fluctuates throughout the day and we typically weigh a couple pounds more at night than in the morning. That being said, absolutely 4 pounds can be hormonal Fluid retention. That is my typical number, though I am much heavier than you. Within a couple days of my period starting, it usually comes off. No reason to panic.

Good luck!

I am a scale addict! All of my life I have weighed more at night than in the am...but for the past two weeks I will stick to a weight all day..all week..then bam lose two lbs. So this gain is out of the norm for me. I have been eating right and drinking my Water. So I guess it is Fluid. I hope! To gain almost four lbs puts me back in the old frame of mind of panic and failure. I'm going to sleep on it and hope it all is hormonal! Thanks ladies!

Good luck! I'm a scale addict, too. I'm not quite as bad as I used to be, but I would weigh every morning and every night. If I didn't lose 2 pounds overnight I would know, because of the consistency with which the two situations happened together, that I didn't get enough sleep the night before. It's okay to be a scale addict if you are wired that way (Numbers! Charts! Data!!!), you just have to remember to only compare apples to apples, or when you do look at am and pm numbers, you are only looking at them to identify a pattern, not an absolute.

Best wishes from one geek to another!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
