It varies wildly - I have seen it from $12,500 to $17,000 or more... but that's about the range.

It is pretty available at about $15k including a year of fills - but it will depend on where you live and stuff.

If you have the surgery in Mexico - it can be lots cheaper...

Just research your doc really well - with life-altering surgery, cheaper is not always the best option.

Good Luck!

It cost me $16,500.00 in tx but that didn't cover the lap work or the chest exray which they didn't tell me till the day of my test and I found out today that my fills are $100.00 each, pretty pricey, they don't always tell you the hidden cost, I was under the impression my first year fills were free but they don't do that anymore.

I think I've read about someone in CO who does it for under 10k.

I just saw my billing from insurance, and it came in at just about $30K.

Just FYI - Self pay, it would have cost me $15k to have the surgery... but the insurance billing was something over $40k.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain....

The docs way overbill the insurance companies.

:]

I traveled to Denver, CO and paid $9,950 with no hidden cost. I don't know if the Dr. does anyone under 18???? Fills are free for 3 months, but ofcourse the flight would cost.

I also went to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver, CO and he was $9,950 for everything. I was banded on 2/20/07 and I had a wonderful experience.

Also, if you are really considered about the price, you could probably just call the office and ask before your appointment. The prices vary so much, you never know.

I am in Decatur Alabama and my cost is going to be $11,600. This includes surgeons fee, hospital fees, anesthesia fees, and follow-up care for 1 year for the fills or unfills. Dr. Gregory Adams

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
