Can you still eat in restaurants?

When traveling I eat the egg white and white cheese out of the as sandwich, ask for side order of scrambled eggs, or Wendy's chili. I have continued to lose weight on every vacation since I had the sleeve surgery! Plan ahead and look up foods or bring things with you in a cooler.

I had this on Friday night when we went out for our anniversary. It is an appetiser of crispy pork with scampi, pickled cucumber and radish, and avocado. It was DIVINE. I didn't finish the cucumber.

I went to dinner at Cafe Rio last night - we needed something quick and I didn't plan ahead to eat at home...

I ordered a Single Taco Meal - I had my taco made with roast beef and had them hold the rice, but would like pinto Beans on the side.

I ate the inside of the taco which included cheese, the roast beef and some lettuce topped off with some pico. I ate some of the Beans, but not a lot - maybe one tablespoon. I even ate some of the shell, but knowing I don't feel well after I eat a lot of carbs, I took it easy. I was completely satisfied.

It was delish!

Yes, I can have pork as Protein. I am 20 months post OP so there isn't really anything I 'can't' have, though there are still some things that don't agree with me.

A good go to at any place is a grilled chicken sandwich minus the bread. I eat the lettuce and Tomato as a salad on the side when I'm able to. Didn't really eat out until after 7 weeks post op though.

I ordered from Jimmy Johns last night and got an Unwich for the first time. Same sandwich, no bread, wrapped in lettuce...it was actually pretty good. I felt like a sap paying that much for the sandwich! LOL

Since my original post, I have to say that I am enjoying dining out more. I like to go to restaurants that serve tapas - small portions that are shared across the table such as Nordstrom's Blue Stove. I enjoy grilled scallops served over a salad. I also occaisionally go to 5 Guys and get a bunless cheese burger with mushrooms, pepper, onions and A1 sauce. I also go to Chipotle and get a burrito bowl, no rice, double Beans and pork (carnitas). I did just manage to eat a chicken quesadilla - all of the "fast food" items I get at least 2 meals out of. So, definately, my options are getting better with time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
