Thispost is mainly for accountability more than anything else. I started soft food this past thursday. Since then I have ate several things I should not have. The worst of them all and the smack to my head was when I actually ate a bite of cookie last night. I just spent what I consider to be a large sum of money, altered my body for life, and made a commitment to myself. Yet, here I sit typing. I started this morning determined to stick to my plan. If its not Protein its not going in mouth. I think I need motivation.

I am day 18. I have had.. (wait for it), a cupcake, half a cheese burger, two vodka Water and apple-juices, 5 mini cocktail sausages, toast with ham and a very small slither of cake. Am i beating myself up over it? No. Should I have eaten these things? Probably not. Will the world stop revolving as I'm still under 700 calories a day? Definitely not. It's a cookie. I know you feel bad, but a little perspective is required here.... clamber back up on that wagon and keep pumpin' the Protein. You'll forget it all in about, ooh, say, 20 minutes...

The surgery you've had is not a miracle, but its the most effective tool I have ever used. There is a certain amount of work that goes into it on your own. There should be no Cookies in your house to eat. I have in the past used the excuse that its not fair for my kids to not have treats, just because of me. What ends up happening is your human side and old habits make it too tempting. Dont beat yourself up, today is a new day. Now get to work and stay determined! I buy treats for my kids that do not tempt me, I have found they really don't care anyway.

I think at some point we will all have a moment where we shouldn't have put something in our mouth... The great thing is that you have taken accountability for it and now shake it off and get up again... Today is a new day =) Don't worry so much on what happened or what you ate but how you learned from it. This is all a process and its going to be really hard at times yet other times we are going to not give a second thought. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Thanks, usually I dont have treats here unless its apples or grapes...my kids devour fruit. Yesterday was a birthday though, so what he picked was a cookie cake. My head should have been in the game more, but I was weak.

Chin up, Buttercup.

You've identified a problem - you're working on accountability. I admire you for putting your struggle out there.

Keep working hard and love yourself. How would you treat a good friend that did the same thing - you would probably offer words of encouragement, not beat them up. Treat yourself that same way.

Sending positive vibes and ((hugs)) your way today.

Hunny, if the worst you've eaten it's okay. It's good you are aware of your eating, but don't beat yourself up...we have to take it day by day:)

I'm just 4 months and 3 weeks out and 60 pounds down since surgery. So, I'm not losing super fast but I am happy with my pace. I am not perfect, never have been and never will be. I do try to keep junk out of my house but sometimes other people bring it in. I have found that it helps me to say that no food is a never food. It is just a last food. I have to have my dense Protein first, then a little fruit or veggie, and then I can have whatever it was that I wanted. This keeps me from eating a lot of the stuff I would otherwise eat because I am just too full or by then the craving is gone. Don't beat yourself up over small slips just don't let it become a habit.

Thanks everyone for the support! I appreciate it way more than you know. I have zero support at home most days.

It happens! You fall down, you get back up and start over again.

I think the worst for me was second day out and I ate a chicken nugget.

I was sick for hours ...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
