Has anyone else used dr. Ponce de leon? I don't see a lot of information about him on this forum.

I've been looking into using him also. Not a lot of info on him(?). I do have a friend of a friend that used him with no complications, great experience.

Yes, I also have a friend at work that did and she is doing we ll. I did some youtube research and also on the WLS fb page and a lot of praises, so I hope I made a good choice.

I am also connected to wls4abetterlife through Facebook. Watched a few you-tubes also. I'm trying to make my final decision today, I'm so overwhelmed in making the right decision! So many doctors/companies with so much information!

I agree. I'm scheduled for Oct 17th a little over a week. So excited, yet nervous.

Good luck! I'm hoping to be there that week too. I'm last minute booking but trying to work around my husbands schedule so he can go with me. Praying I can make the right decision!

I had surgery on 9/11 with dr. Ponce de leon. He is the most experienced of doctors who do the sleeve in TJ, and is called a super doctor! He was a little more expensive but I felt his experience was worth it. He does not speak English, but he works with a family practice physician who is fluent in English and actually had the surgery herself! I had a hiatal hernia that was discovered during the surgery and that was repaired also. I have had no complications post op and can highly recommend him to you!

Thank you, and yes, all the research I've done so far has been mostly all great things. I just didn't see him mentioned on this forum as much as the other docs. Trish has been absolutely wonderful as well.

I had surgery with Dr Ponce last year on November 8th, so I guess today is my 11 month anniversary. BEST DECISION EVER! :) Everything went well, and I'm down 130 pounds since surgery, 20 pounds to go to goal. From 303 pounds to 172 pounds, from a size 24-26 to a size 12. I'm ecstatic! :) I just make sure to get all my Protein in and I've been seeing a personal trainer for 6 months, I'm in the best shape of my life!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
