Does anyway take pills whole or do you crush everything? I have been crushing my pills since surgery, but after my fill yesterday the NP said not to swallow any pills until I'm sure that food is passing through my band. The only thing I take whole are capsules or gel caps I crush everything else. I didn't think we could take pills anymore?? I'm afraid too. Won;t they get stuck??

Ok, good to know. I might try to small ones and just keep crushing my Calcium. That one is pretty big. Thanks!!

I don't have a problem with my pills, the biggest one I break in half and the rest I keep as is. I do take a chewable Multivitamin and Calcium, gummie fish oil and vit. D

I don't have any problem with pills. My surgeon allowed me to start taking my normal Vitamins the day after surgery.

No problems with pills here either. I've been taking them since the day after I had my surgery whole. The larger pills like Vitamins (though they have them smaller now and chewable I like the chewable ones) I might cut in half just so they don't get stuck the wrong way and not get through the band till they dissolve, but I have not had one get stuck yet.

I've been taking my regular meds in pill form since the day after my surgery. I get chewable vitamins when possible. But, I've not had any real problems swallowing the pills.< /p>

As long as the pills aren't extended release or gel caps you can break them in half

I was banded on Monday and my Dr said if everything I take was a small pill or capsule then I would be ok. I have not had any problems yet. Thank Goodness!!

It depends.... some days not problem, others it is a struggle. I take to mini Calcium tabs each time even they will stick some days. Multivitamin is huge, no problem! Go figure. The vagaries of the band day by day.

Sometimes I'm ok, sometimes not. Once I got horribly stuck on Motrin and felt like I was dying.....fun. How do you take a crushed pill? In a shot glass with juice? I'm seriously curious.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
