Getting banded November 14th in Houston- anyone want to joing me?

Recommended Posts

I am set for Nov 14th and should have been on my liquid diet since the 1st but today, the 5th is the first day I was able to do it all the way perfect. I'm hoping this is not going to be a big deal but will talk with nurse next week just to make sure. I talked with her yesterday and she said I had to be perfect from yesterday on so I guess I am just paranoid. Anyone else doing their pre op liquids and hating it? Im hoping there are a lot of us getting banded next week so we can all share what is going on with each other. I know I need it.

I got my date today, the 13th. Getting nervous but excited. A week ago I started my 2 wk pre-op diet that consists of fish, chicken, vegtables,no carbs, 1-2 Protein Shakes a day. Have done well but a slip today, plan to continue on. From my top weight, I am down 18lbs so far, not all of it since I started 5 wks ago. So happy to have forums like this to share the journey. We can do it !!

Hi there! I was not perfect on my pre-op diet but did the best I could. Mine was similar -- 2 shakes, 2 Snacks and 1 meal per day not to go over 900 calories. I immediately got harsh and turned it into shakes only, 800 calories max, etc. then could not sustain that so had a couple of slips. Told me a lot about my dieter mentality and why/how I have struggled so over the years. 18 pounds down is Great! Way to go. That's all weight you won't be seeing again. Good luck with the rest of your pre-op - goal is to clear out your system and shrink the liver -- and with your surgery on the 13th. I am on day 4 post-op and feeling really good. Best wishes for smooth sailing and a speedy recovery!

Good luck to you both today -- best wishes for smooth sailing and a speedy recovery. The walking really, really helped me -- I did all I could and think it made a huge difference. Plus now I am a walker. That is not the old me, that's the banded me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
