Tightness during that time of the month

Recommended Posts

Is it true that your band gets tight on your period? I have had my band for years but just started getting fills and I think I read that somewhere. Is it true? My band is killing me the last couple of days. Stuck and restuck. My fill was weeks ago so I don't think its overfilled.

Yes, some woman do experience fluctuations in restriction during their TOM. Best to keep it simple with Soups etc. Keep a journal and track to see if it does correlate with your TOM and, if so, how long any tightness lasts for so you can plan ahead in the future

Many things can cause fluctuations in the band, it could be that because we tend to retain Water during our TOM that the band will be tighter, just as it is in the summer when it's very hot out. It's crazy how sometimes your band is screaming at you and sometimes you wonder if the damn thing is still in there.

Throwing up is not normal. If you switch to all liquids and it's still happening, you need to be seen.

Glad I saw this too. My question also is this "tightness" everyone is describing, does it also seem that when you are laying flat of your back, that you can "feel, without touching" (does that make ANY sense?) your band? I swear I can feel the tightness when I'm laying down on my back...at least I hope that's what it is. I had the horrible stomach virus that's been going around and had a few bouts of tossing my Cookies but thank God to phenegren it wasn't but 3 times....so I'm hoping either 1. I'm feeling the tightness or 2. My muscles are just sore and I feel them, and NOT that I messed up my band....do we ever quit worrying that we messed up our bands??? LOL

I have this issue every month. So I know that one week a month, I buy everything I need for smoothies. I always keep the Protein powder handy and stock up on smoother foods. It is something I am just used to. And like clockwork, about 1 day before the end... all back to normal- or as normal as it can be with a band.

Back on track!

I have just passed my 1 year bandiversary and I never had this issue before. But this time, i had nausea 2 days before my period started, band tightness and still some occasional nausea 2 days into my TOM. Does this happen once you get in the green?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
