Stuck or stretched pouch?

Recommended Posts

The ONE and only time I got stuck...

At first a tad of food came back up...it was like a BAD feeling of indesgestion on my left side. I walked, I teared up, I was scared. I finally posted here to get some other advice.

After about ten minutes I tried taking a tad of Water...NOPE - wasn't happening!! I then started THE SLIMMING EPISODE - of which lasted no less than 35 - 40 minutes and continous spitting up what looked like mucus. I then tried to sip Water. After about 20 min into the episode I could SIP tiny and I do mean tiny sips of water. Once it started sating down, I waited another 20 minutes or so and sipped hot water....finally some relief. The warm/hot helps the band to espand so that the food particle can pass through easier. I HAVE NEVER been so scared. I had NO clue what was going on... they fail to tell you THIS happens - IF you do not chew enough before swallowing. I put myself on a liquid diet for the rest of the weekend. I was sore for the next 2 days in my upper mid section area as if I had done 2,000 sit ups. UNREAL !!

The following Monday I went and got .5 removed from my band. Now the gates of the dam are OPEN and I am hungry! Ohhhh What to do what to do????

Beach, I'm going through the same thing. Can't wait to get some Fluid in again. However, how much, I do not know, but I'm not allowing my doctor to make the decision for me since he is quite aggressive with fills. He normally likes putting in 2-3 cc at a time. Not me! I will tell him to put only 1 cc. If Water goes down well, good! If not, I'll have him remove .5 cc. It's my band, and my body! Plus, I'm self pay, so he's not going to tighten me up like before.

You got a very large fill. I would try to go up more gradually. I only have 3cc in my bad and food gets stuck quite often if I don't chew well

Good for YOU! I am going to try and presuede my nurse to put atleast .5 back in as right now It's like I don't even have a band!!!

I think everyone is different in what they ned and how th band reacts.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
