My nutritionist has recommended a multi Vitamin twice a day, and Calcium 3 times a day. For both, I am using Celebrate chewables that I get from the shop at my doctor's office, I have found they charge the same price as I can get them online but I don't have to pay for shipping that way.

I am 6 days post op, and have had Constipation as well, with the trauma your body goes through with a surgical procedure I can imagine that is part of it, I did not have any such trouble when I was on the same liquid diet for two weeks pre op. On day 3 or 4 I took a half dose of Miralax and that took care of the issue, but I was then loose for awhile after that, so I would be very cautious with how much laxative you take until you see what you need. I am hopeful that moving to mushies before too long and being able to get in some more veggies and fiber might help a bit ... but it is hard to get in much fiber on all liquids!

I got the same recommendation from my nutritionist.... I also bought the Celebrate chewable from their office, and take calcium three times a day. I tried some of the calcium chews, but found a liquid that I like better. As for constipation, I've also found MiraLax to be the best and most gentle.

I take Multivitamin (gummy), D3 (gummy) B12 Sublinguel.. no Calcium, , it really causes constipation.. I used milk of mag after surgery to get things moving and as long as I eat some veggies or salads I am pretty regular...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
